BloFin is an offshore crypto derivatives exchange, and its Terms of Use list Canada as a Restricted Location, so Canadians are not permitted to use it. It is not on the CSA list of platforms authorized to do business with Canadians, it has no FINTRAC registration and no CIRO membership, and no Canadian investor protection applies. We score it 9.6 out of 10 on features and fees for experienced futures traders only, and that score does not cancel the legal problem.

  • Best for: experienced derivatives traders who accept the account risk of an offshore platform
  • Not for: beginners, anyone who needs CAD deposits, anyone who needs Canadian regulatory protection
  • Regulated alternative: Coinbase (our #1) or Kraken

Can Canadians Use BloFin?

No. The Terms of Use say the platform "may not be accessed or used by individuals and/or legal entities that is resident of, or domiciled in a Restricted Location," and the list of Restricted Locations includes Canada. BloFin has no FINTRAC registration and no Canadian securities authorization. If its compliance team decides your account belongs to a Canadian resident, the terms give it the right to close it and hold the funds while it reviews.

I want to be honest about this in a way that a lot of BloFin reviews are not. The old version of this article recommended using a VPN to access BloFin and named a specific VPN service. I am not going to do that. A VPN used to get around a geographic restriction violates the platform's terms, and it does not make your account safer. It only delays the moment BloFin's compliance system notices your Canadian bank, your Canadian payment provider or your Canadian IP pattern. When that happens, you are in a worse position than if you had never opened the account.

If you still decide this platform is for you, deposit only what you are genuinely prepared to fight to recover from an offshore exchange. Fund it with a crypto transfer from a regulated Canadian exchange, because BloFin has no Interac and no CAD bank deposit. And keep your core holdings on a platform that Canadian regulators actually oversee.

Oleg's takeI do not keep much on BloFin, never more than 2,000 USDT. I use it for spot, for futures, and to test its copy trading.

Is BloFin Legit And Safe?

BloFin is a working exchange with live markets, and its mobile apps are well rated: 4.86 from 156 ratings on Apple Canada, and 4.7 on Google Play. That tells you the day-to-day trading experience is fine. It does not tell you anything about what happens when something goes wrong, and that is where an offshore platform is weakest for a Canadian.

BloFin security page with the heading Your Assets, Protected and a 3D orange safe
BloFin's security page, which describes custody and risk monitoring in its own words.

The regulatory picture is simple. BloFin is not on the CSA list of crypto platforms authorized to do business with Canadians (the list was last updated on 2026-09-18), it does not appear in the FINTRAC money services business registry, and it is not on CIRO's list of regulated dealers. It is also not on the CSA banned list. "Not banned" is not the same as "allowed," and the terms close the gap by naming Canada as restricted. Its Terms of Use do not name the operating legal entity in the text we checked.

The security stack is a different question from the regulatory one. BloFin's own pages say it uses Fireblocks for wallet custody, which also brings liability insurance coverage, that it has integrated Chainalysis for continuous monitoring of illicit activity, that it holds ISO 27001 certification, and that it publishes a Proof of Reserves built on a Merkle tree so you can check your balance is included in the total. Read those as BloFin's statements about itself, because I have not audited them.

The security stack at BloFin is better than what many offshore exchanges publish. Fireblocks is institutional-grade custody software used by large crypto companies. The Chainalysis integration is primarily a compliance measure, but it also reduces exposure to exchange-level legal risk. ISO 27001 does not mean BloFin is regulated in any financial sense. It means an independent auditor has checked that its information security management meets an international standard. And Proof of Reserves lets any user confirm independently that their funds are accounted for.

None of that changes the regulatory picture. It holds no authorization from the CSA, CIRO or FINTRAC, and it does not substitute for them. Compared with Kraken and Coinbase, which are authorized in Canada, that is a meaningful gap: if something goes wrong with your account, there is no Canadian regulator to call.

What Is BloFin's Track Record?

BloFin is a young exchange. Its public API shows the BTC-USDT and ETH-USDT perpetual contracts listed on January 12, 2023, which matches the January 2023 public launch I have always given for its futures exchange, and the BTC-USDT spot pair listed at the start of 2024. Spot trading came after futures.

BloFin Key Milestones

BloFin Milestones From Public Listing Data
DateMilestone
January 2023BTC-USDT and ETH-USDT perpetual contracts listed
January 2024BTC-USDT spot pair listed
2025Spot listings of tokenized stock pairs such as METAX and COINX (both still live on the spot API)
2026100 stock perpetuals, 5 commodity perpetuals and 1 index perpetual live on the derivatives API

A short record is not a bad record by itself, but it is a short one. Judge BloFin on three years of operating history, not on ten.

What Does BloFin Cost?

At the base tier, spot trades cost 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker. Futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. BloFin charges no platform withdrawal fee; you pay the blockchain network fee, which the withdrawal screen shows before you confirm. There is no published fixed BTC withdrawal amount, so check it at the time.

  • Futures Maker0.02%
  • Futures Taker0.06%
  • Spot Maker And Taker0.10%

What A Real Transaction Costs

I deposited 100 USDT from Kraken via TRC20 (1 USDT network fee, so 99 USDT received on BloFin). I bought Bitcoin spot: 0.10 USDT fee (0.1%). I opened a 10x futures position on BTC/USDT perpetual: 0.06 USDT taker fee on entry, 0.06 USDT on exit. I withdrew to an external wallet: 1 USDT TRC20 network fee. Total round-trip cost on a 100 USDT starting balance: approximately 2.22 USDT (2.22%), most of which was network fees rather than exchange fees. For high-volume traders who minimize withdrawal frequency, BloFin's actual trading costs are very low.

How Do Canadians Fund A BloFin Account?

There is no Interac e-Transfer and no direct CAD bank deposit, and we found no CAD withdrawal either. Fiat purchases go through third-party "Buy Crypto" providers, and we could not verify any fee range for them, so check the quote on screen. The cheaper route is buying USDT, BTC or ETH on a regulated Canadian exchange by Interac, then sending it over. Pick the cheapest network for USDT (TRC20 is usually far cheaper than ERC20), and test with a small amount before a large transfer. To get CAD back, you withdraw crypto to a Canadian exchange and sell there, so count that round trip in your costs.

Crypto Transfer From A Canadian Exchange

Buy USDT, BTC or ETH on a regulated Canadian exchange like Kraken or NDAX by Interac, then transfer it to your BloFin deposit address. Crypto deposits are the simplest route in. Standard blockchain confirmation times apply. Always test with a small amount before sending a large transfer.

What Is Not Available

No Interac e-Transfer. No Canadian bank wire. No fiat withdrawals directly to a Canadian bank account. To get CAD back from BloFin, you withdraw crypto to a Canadian exchange and sell there. Factor the round-trip cost into your overall trading economics.

How Does Sign-Up Work On BloFin?

Read this section as a description of how the platform works, not as encouragement. BloFin's terms say residents of Canada may not use it. If you are a Canadian resident, opening an account puts you in breach of those terms, and that is the exposure to weigh before you go further.

BloFin Welcome sign-up form with email or phone and password fields, an optional referral code, and Google and Apple sign-in buttons
The BloFin sign-up form: email or phone, password and an optional referral code.
  1. Go to BloFin's registration page and sign up with an email address or phone number.
  2. Enter the verification code sent to your inbox or phone.
  3. Set up two-factor authentication before depositing anything. BloFin asks for security verification again when you withdraw.
  4. Deposit crypto from another exchange to start trading.

KYC Levels

BloFin sets the default account at Basic, Level 0, and it publishes three levels with different 24-hour withdrawal limits. Completing identity verification does not change the Canadian restriction in the terms, and an account tied to Canadian documents or a Canadian bank is exactly what a compliance review looks for.

BloFin KYC Levels And 24-Hour Withdrawal Limits
LevelWhat It Is24-Hour Withdrawal Limit
Level 0Basic, the default for new accounts20,000 USDT
Level 1Personal information verification1,000,000 USDT
Level 2Address proof verification2,000,000 USDT

What Can You Trade On BloFin?

The public API shows 235 base assets across 242 live spot pairs. The 433+ spot-pair figure that circulates on other pages mixes spot with futures, so we do not use it. On the derivatives side there are 495 perpetual-swap base assets across 519 instruments, with leverage up to 150x.

A candid note on high leverage: 150x means a 0.67% move against your position liquidates your entire margin. Most professional traders use far lower leverage (5x to 20x) even when higher options are available. Perpetual futures are not available on any CSA-authorized Canadian platform, which is the main reason experienced traders look offshore at all. If you are new to futures, start with a demo account before risking real capital.

What Features Does BloFin Offer?

BloFin is a trading platform well beyond where it started in 2023. Beyond spot and perpetual futures it offers copy trading, trading bots, a demo account, a self-custody wallet and an Earn product. Here is how each one works and where I would be careful.

Futures Trading

This is the primary reason experienced Canadian traders use BloFin. No CSA-authorized Canadian exchange offers futures or perpetual contracts. BloFin covers 495 perpetual-swap base assets, with leverage up to 150x on BTC-USDT. Order types include limit and market orders, with stop-loss and take-profit tools for managing a position. Read the margin and liquidation rules for each contract before you open a position, because they differ by pair.

Spot Trading

For Canadians wanting altcoins beyond what regulated Canadian exchanges carry, BloFin's 235 spot base assets cover a broad range, all quoted in USDT. Check the order book depth on any thinly traded pair before you trade size.

Copy Trading

BloFin's futures copy trading lets you follow experienced Lead Traders, ranked by PnL and ROI. You choose a trader, set your investment amount, and the system mirrors their trades in real time. Look at each trader's history before committing. Beginners should treat copy trading as a learning tool, not a passive income guarantee: copying a trader who then has a drawdown means your account participates in that drawdown too.

Trading Bots

BloFin offers Futures Grid, DCA, Spot Grid and AI trading bots, which are built to work in bullish, bearish and sideways markets. For Canadians who want to automate strategies without running their own infrastructure, the grid and DCA bots handle the standard approaches. Bots do not remove leverage risk, and a grid bot in a trending market can lock in losses.

Demo Trading

BloFin Demo Trading is a simulated environment where you trade with virtual funds on the same platform, with the same tools and market data as live trading. It is one of the most genuinely useful features for anyone new to futures. Spend time in demo before depositing real funds, especially if you plan to use leverage.

BloFin Wallet

BloFin Wallet is a separate self-custody wallet for on-chain trading, swaps, bridging, earning and payments across multiple chains. Because it is self-custodied, funds in the wallet sit apart from any exchange account risk. Keep in mind that you hold the keys, and the usual rules for seed phrases apply.

Tokenized Stocks And Equity Perpetuals

BloFin lists tokenized stock pairs on spot, such as METAX and COINX, and the derivatives API shows 100 stock perpetuals alongside commodity and index contracts. This makes BloFin one of the few places Canadians can trade US equity exposure outside market hours, though the same offshore caveat applies. Older versions of this review named five tokenized stock pairs. Three of them (GOOGLX, MCDX and AMZNX) no longer show as live spot pairs on the public API, so I list only the ones I can see.

Earn And Staking

BloFin Earn lets you deposit a supported asset and earn interest, with flexible terms or fixed terms of 5, 7, 14, 30, 60, 90 or 180 days. Yields change, and I have not verified a current rate, so read the rate on the screen. Do not treat it as a reason to use the platform. If passive income matters to you, look at regulated Canadian options first.

What Are The Biggest Risks Of Using BloFin?

BloFin's Trustpilot page showed a 1.7 out of 5 score from 122 reviews on 2026-10-01, with 79% of reviews at one star. The recurring complaints are liquidations at prices not seen elsewhere, account freezes tied to verification, bonus promotions that were never paid, and templated support replies. The app store ratings are much better, which suggests the everyday trading experience is reasonable while disputes are handled poorly.

Account Freezes And Closures

This is the most serious documented risk for Canadians specifically. Reviews describe accounts being frozen with funds held pending review. The terms give BloFin broad discretion to close accounts of residents of restricted locations, and Canada is on that list. If your account is identified as Canadian, the contractual right to freeze and close it exists.

Bonus Promotions

A consistent complaint involves BloFin's welcome bonus and trading promotion programmes. Users report completing the stated requirements and then being told they violated terms. Headline maximums usually require extreme trading volumes in a short window, and campaigns are not for Canadians anyway. Do not make a deposit decision based on a bonus.

Liquidation Complaints On Low-Liquidity Pairs

Some users allege that BloFin's price feed on lower-liquidity futures pairs produces wicks that trigger liquidations at prices not seen on reference exchanges. This is a complaint common to offshore derivatives exchanges and difficult to verify independently. On major pairs like BTC, ETH and SOL, liquidity is deeper and it is less likely to matter. On smaller altcoin futures, thin order books can produce violent moves that hit margin positions.

Support Response Quality

For routine questions the support pages are enough. For account-level disputes involving frozen funds or denied bonuses, the pattern on Trustpilot is templates, escalation delays and cases left unresolved. BloFin does reply to most negative reviews, but a reply is not a resolution.

BloFin help center page headed Hello, how can we help, with a search box and self-service tiles such as Change Password and Crypto Deposit Not Arrived
BloFin's help center with self-service options.

Scam Awareness

Offshore platforms are a common impersonation target. Fake BloFin websites, Telegram accounts claiming to be BloFin support and social media impersonators are active. BloFin will never contact you on Telegram to offer help recovering funds or to ask for a deposit to unlock withdrawals. Always reach BloFin only through its official site and check the URL before entering credentials.

Summary Of The Main Risks

  • Account closure. The restricted-location clause gives BloFin a contractual right to close the account of a Canadian resident and hold funds under review. You would have no Canadian regulator to call.
  • Promotions are not for you. BloFin's published bonus campaigns are global and not applicable to Canadians, and we found no live October 2026 campaign. Do not deposit because of a bonus headline.
  • Leverage. Up to 150x. Liquidation on thin altcoin futures can happen quickly.
  • Impersonation. Offshore platforms attract fake support accounts. Only use the official site, and never pay anyone who promises to unlock a withdrawal. See our guide to common crypto scams in Canada.

Who Should Use BloFin And Who Shouldn't?

The only reader this platform fits is an experienced futures trader who accepts that using it contradicts the platform's own terms for Canadians. Everyone else is better served by a regulated platform.

BloFin May Be Worth Considering If You

  • Are an experienced futures trader who needs leverage and perpetual contracts, which no CSA-authorized Canadian exchange offers
  • Want altcoins beyond what regulated Canadian platforms list, and BloFin's 235 spot assets give broader access
  • Need low futures fees: 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at the base tier is low next to most exchanges
  • Would only deposit what you are genuinely prepared to not recover in a dispute
  • Already hold USDT or BTC on a regulated Canadian platform and can fund BloFin by crypto transfer

BloFin Is Not Right For You If

  • You are new to crypto: start with Coinbase or Wealthsimple Crypto.
  • You need Interac deposits and CAD withdrawals: use NDAX or Newton.
  • You want a wide altcoin list under Canadian rules: Kraken.
  • You need to know where you stand if funds are locked: you need a CSA-registered platform.
  • You plan to stake crypto for meaningful passive income: the Earn rates are not a reason to use the platform.

How Does BloFin Compare To Regulated Canadian Exchanges?

BloFin Versus Regulated Alternatives
ExchangeScoreCanadian StatusBase Fee Example
Coinbase9.8CSA Restricted Dealer, all provincesSpread plus a fee that varies by payment method
BloFin9.6Offshore, Canada restricted0.1% spot, 0.02% / 0.06% futures
Kraken9.2CSA Restricted DealerPro 0.40% / 0.80% at the base tier
Wealthsimple Crypto8.4CIRO dealer member0.5% baseline fee plus spread on market orders
Newton7.9CIRO dealer member1.00% to 1.15% on BTC, ETH and USDC
NDAX7.8CIRO dealer member0.20% flat

The closest like-for-like offshore comparison is MEXC, which lists a base spot fee of 0% maker and 0.05% taker on its fee page and also names Canada in its prohibited jurisdictions. Both undercut NDAX's flat 0.20% on base spot fees, and both leave you without Canadian protection. Neither fee advantage is worth losing access to your funds, so size your balance accordingly.

What Changed For BloFin In October 2026?

  • We re-read the Terms of Use: Canada is still named in the Restricted Location clause.
  • The CSA's list of authorized platforms was last updated on this date. BloFin is not on it.
  • BloFin listed 11 new USDC spot pairs.

Is BloFin Worth It For Canadians?

BloFin is ranked high on our list specifically because, for experienced Canadian traders who need futures, it is the best offshore option I have tested. The fee structure is genuinely competitive, the security stack BloFin describes (Fireblocks, Chainalysis, ISO 27001, Proof of Reserves) is stronger than most offshore exchanges publish, and the feature set, including 495 perpetual-swap assets, copy trading, demo trading and a self-custody wallet, is deep.

The honest counterweight: the Trustpilot score of 1.7 out of 5 with 79% one-star reviews is a bad sign for any exchange. The account freeze pattern for restricted-country residents is documented, and Canada is on that restricted list. The Earn rates are no reason to use the platform. And there is no FINTRAC registration, no CIRO oversight and no Canadian regulator to call if your funds are locked.

As a product, BloFin is strong. The fee structure is competitive and the derivatives menu is deep. As a Canadian, you cannot get past the fact that you are not allowed to use it, and the account freeze risk is yours alone. If you are a serious futures trader who understands that, keep your position on BloFin proportional to what you are prepared to lose access to, and use a regulated Canadian platform like Kraken or NDAX for your core holdings. Do not make BloFin your primary exchange.

Not sure which platform fits you? Take the exchange quiz or ask in r/OCryptoCanada.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Canadians Use BloFin?

No. BloFin's Terms of Use name Canada as a Restricted Location and say residents of those locations may not access or use the platform. It is not on the CSA list of authorized platforms and has no FINTRAC registration.

What Are BloFin's Trading Fees?

At the base tier, spot trading costs 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker, and futures cost 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. BloFin charges no platform withdrawal fee, only the blockchain network fee.

Is BloFin Regulated In Canada?

No. It is not on the CSA list of crypto platforms authorized to do business with Canadians, it has no match in the FINTRAC registry and it is not a CIRO member. It is also not on the CSA banned list.

Can You Deposit Canadian Dollars On BloFin?

We found no CAD funding. BloFin is crypto-funded, with fiat available only through third-party providers. Canadians who use it send crypto in from a regulated Canadian exchange.

How Many Coins Does BloFin List?

The public API shows 235 base assets across 242 live spot pairs, plus 495 perpetual-swap base assets across 519 instruments.

What Is The Maximum Leverage On BloFin?

Up to 150x on perpetual swaps according to BloFin's public API. At 150x, a move of about 0.67% against you liquidates the position, so most professionals use far less.

What Is A Regulated Alternative To BloFin For Canadians?

Coinbase and Kraken are CSA Restricted Dealers, and NDAX, Newton and Wealthsimple Crypto are CIRO dealer members. None offers perpetual futures to Canadians.

Does BloFin Require KYC?

New accounts start at Level 0, Basic, with a 24-hour withdrawal limit of 20,000 USDT. Level 1 (personal information) raises it to 1,000,000 USDT and Level 2 (address proof) to 2,000,000 USDT. None of the levels changes the Canadian restriction in the Terms of Use, so completing KYC does not make the account permitted for a Canadian resident.

How Do Canadians Fund A BloFin Account?

There is no Interac e-Transfer and no direct CAD bank deposit. The practical route is buying USDT, BTC or ETH on a regulated Canadian exchange by Interac and sending it to BloFin. Pick the cheapest network for the transfer and test with a small amount first.

Is BloFin Safe?

BloFin states that it uses Fireblocks custody with liability insurance, Chainalysis monitoring, ISO 27001 certification and a Merkle tree Proof of Reserves. It holds no CSA, CIRO or FINTRAC authorization, so there is no Canadian regulator to escalate to, and its Trustpilot score was 1.7 out of 5 on 2026-10-01.

Does BloFin Have Copy Trading And Bots?

Yes. BloFin offers futures copy trading with ranked Lead Traders, plus Futures Grid, DCA, Spot Grid and AI trading bots. It also has a demo account with virtual funds, which is the sensible place to start with leverage.

Does BloFin Offer Staking?

BloFin Earn lets you deposit supported assets for interest on flexible or fixed terms. We have not verified a current yield, so read the rate on screen. It is not a reason to choose the platform.
