BloFin publishes a clean 0.1% spot fee, but its Terms list Canada as a Restricted Location. Crypto.com is a CSA restricted dealer in Canada, yet I could not find its Canadian fee schedule. One is cheap and closed, the other is open and opaque.

BloFin Vs Crypto.com: Which Is Better For Canadians?

For most Canadians, BloFin is the better choice (it wins on my ranking). Crypto.com still comes out ahead on canadian status. Crypto.com is best for A broad app with a crypto card.

BloFin Vs Crypto.com: Side By Side
BloFinCrypto.com
DescriptionBloFin is a crypto-funded derivatives and spot exchange built for active traders, with perpetual swaps, copy trading and a small spot market. It is not registered in Canada and its Terms of Use name Canada as a Restricted Location, so it is not available to Canadians.Crypto.com is one of the world's largest crypto platforms and one of the few global exchanges registered to operate in Canada, through Foris DAX CAN ULC as a restricted dealer. It offers its own coin (CRO), staking, a Visa prepaid crypto card with cashback, and an all-in-one app.
Coins235 spot assets across 242 live spot pairs and 495 perpetual-swap base assets (public API, 2026-10-01).400+ on its global exchange, though the list for Canadians is smaller because registered platforms must restrict certain assets. USDT has not been available to Canadians since 2023-01-31. The exact Canadian app list is not published.
FeesSpot 0.1% maker and 0.1% taker at the base tier. Futures 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker at the Regular tier. No platform withdrawal fee, only the network fee. No CAD funding. The Canadian app fee schedule is not published. Canada marketing says maker and taker fees from 0.08% and 0.18%; the global Exchange starts at 0.25% maker and 0.50% taker (Level 1). App purchases carry a spread. CAD deposits by Interac e-Transfer are free.
Pros
  • Low base trading fees
  • Perpetual swaps with leverage up to 150x per the public API
  • Copy trading
  • Highly rated app (4.86 on the Canadian App Store, 4.7 on Google Play)
  • One of only two major global exchanges registered as a restricted dealer in Canada
  • Wide range of coins
  • Suitable for beginners and pro traders
  • Interac e-Transfer with free deposits
  • Staking available (assets and rates not verified)
Cons
  • Canada is a Restricted Location in the Terms of Use
  • Not on the CSA list, not a CIRO member, no FINTRAC registration found
  • No CAD funding, crypto-funded only
  • No Canadian entity and no CIPF coverage
  • Proof of reserves, insurance and cold storage share not published on a page we could verify
  • Only CAD is accepted for the Canadian CAD Account, no credit or debit card for CAD funding verified
  • Coin selection in Canada is smaller than the global exchange
  • App pricing includes a spread on top of quoted fees
  • USDT delisted for Canadians, and no margin or leverage under restricted dealer conditions
  • Some altcoins carry annual purchase limits outside BC, AB, MB and QC (see Account Limits)
  • Customer service is a common complaint, chat-based and often slow (Oleg's original note, not re-tested)
SecurityCustody, insurance and proof-of-reserves details were not verified on an official page. As an unregistered offshore exchange it gives Canadians no regulator protection.Crypto.com describes cold storage and security certifications, but a Canadian page with cold storage share, insurance amount or proof of reserves was not found. Treat those claims as unverified. Crypto.com's own FAQ says nothing about CIPF covering crypto, and CIPF never covers crypto.
Methods To BuyNo CAD deposits. BloFin is crypto-funded and fiat goes through third-party Buy Crypto providers. Canadians cannot use it under the Terms of Use.Interac e-Transfer (CAD Account), crypto deposits. Cards and other methods were not verified for Canada.

What Do BloFin And Crypto.com Offer Beyond Buying And Selling?

BloFin Only

Crypto.com Only

  • CAD Account: Hold CAD, deposit by Interac, balance cap CAD 100,000 (higher for Prime). Sell crypto to CAD and withdraw to your bank.
  • Welcome Bonus: Canada keeps the legacy milestone-based Welcome Bonus after KYC; the amount was not verified.

What Happens To Your Money If BloFin Or Crypto.com Fails?

BloFin: BloFin is not registered with the CSA, is not a CIRO member and has no FINTRAC MSB registration, so no Canadian regulator oversees it. CIPF never covers crypto and BloFin is not a member anyway. Because Canada is a Restricted Location, an account opened from Canada through a VPN or false address can be frozen, with funds inside. We could not verify insurance, proof of reserves or cold storage shares. If the exchange fails or is hacked, a Canadian has no regulator to complain to.

Crypto.com: Crypto.com in Canada is a restricted dealer under the CSA, so it must hold client assets with conditions set by regulators, but CIPF never covers crypto. A third-party insurance figure, cold storage share and proof of reserves were not found on a Canadian page, so none can be relied on here. Coins are held by the company until you withdraw. If the company failed or was hacked, you would be an unsecured claimant for anything not recovered, and withdrawals could be paused.

How Are BloFin And Crypto.com Treated For Tax In Canada?

BloFin: Spot sales, crypto-to-crypto trades and futures settlement are dispositions for CRA purposes. No tax export or CRA-ready report was verified, so Canadians would have to rebuild records from trade history.

Crypto.com: Buying with CAD is not a disposition. Selling for CAD, swapping one coin for another and spending crypto are dispositions you report to the CRA. Export formats and any CRA-ready report were not verified.

Selling, swapping or spending crypto is a disposition for the CRA on any platform. This is not tax advice: see my guide to crypto taxes in Canada.

Which Should You Choose, BloFin Or Crypto.com?

Choose BloFin If

  • You want a regulated route: pick a CSA-registered platform instead, BloFin does not serve Canadians.
  • You wanted perpetual swaps: BloFin is not an option from Canada, so check a registered dealer's derivatives offer.

Choose Crypto.com If

  • You want a mainstream app with a wide coin list and are fine with spread-based pricing
  • You want a CAD Account funded free by Interac e-Transfer
  • You are not buying on fee transparency alone, since the Canadian fee schedule is not published

Is BloFin Or Crypto.com Better For Canadians In 2026?

Crypto.com, if only because it will take your account. Foris DAX CAN ULC, its Alberta entity, received a CSA restricted dealer decision on May 8, 2025, and it is a FINTRAC MSB. BloFin scores 9.6 and ranks second in my table, but its Terms of Use list Canada as a Restricted Location, it is absent from the CSA list and I found no FINTRAC match. Crypto.com has no score in my top ten.

That does not make Crypto.com a bargain. Its Canadian fee schedule is not published on a page I could reach, so I cannot tell you what a trade really costs. It wins on legality and Interac funding, not on proven price.

Read my BloFin review and my Crypto.com review for detail.

Which Costs Less When You Actually Trade?

BloFin states 0.1% for spot makers and takers, which is $1 on $1,000, and futures at 0.02% maker and 0.06% taker. For Crypto.com I can only point to Canada marketing that says maker and taker from 0.08% and 0.18%, plus a spread in the app. A $1,000 purchase could land anywhere above that, and I do not have a verified figure.

My advice is to buy a small amount first and read the order preview, because the quoted price is the real cost on a spread-based app. BloFin's low number is real, but BloFin has no fiat route for Canadians, so it only matters to people who already hold crypto somewhere else and are allowed to use it.

Which Is Easier To Fund And Cash Out?

Crypto.com is workable but has steps. You open a CAD Account, deposit by Interac from $20 to $25,000 per deposit, and the balance caps at $100,000. To get dollars back, you sell to the CAD Account and send an Interac Standard Transfer, which needs at least one earlier CAD deposit, goes through an internal review of up to 1 to 3 business days, and returns funds to the same bank. BloFin has nothing comparable: fiat goes only through third-party providers that Canadians cannot use, so every dollar would have to arrive as crypto from somewhere else.

Which Is Safer For Canadians?

Crypto.com sits under a CSA restricted dealer decision, so it must hold client assets with regulator-set conditions. It is not a CIRO member and CIPF never covers crypto. It is custodial, and I found no insurance figure, cold-storage share or proof of reserves on a Canadian page, so none of those can be relied on. If it failed or was hacked, you would be an unsecured claimant and withdrawals could pause.

BloFin is an offshore platform for a Canadian. It is not registered with the CSA, has no CIRO membership and no FINTRAC match, and its Terms restrict Canadian residents. The Terms do not name the operating entity and the arbitration seat is Hong Kong. Insurance, proof of reserves and cold storage were not verified. No Canadian investor protection applies.

Which Fee Story Can You Actually Verify?

Only one of these is transparent, and it is the one you cannot use. For a Canadian the practical question is whether a usable but opaque fee beats a transparent, unreachable one. It does, but treat the first trade as a test, not a commitment.

Who Should Choose BloFin And Who Should Choose Crypto.com?

Choose Crypto.com if you want a mainstream app, a CAD Account funded free by Interac, and you accept spread-based pricing without a published Canadian schedule.

Choose BloFin if you are outside Canada. A Canadian resident should compare registered platforms on my ranked list of exchanges, where every fee I could verify is shown.
