Canada's crypto industry splits into regulated trading platforms, listed miners and infrastructure companies, lenders and fund managers, and a growing group of firms that have been bought or have moved their legal home abroad. The platforms are easy to verify: NDAX is based in Calgary, Newton in Toronto, Shakepay in Montreal and Bitcoin Well in Edmonton. Among miners, Bitfarms is now Keel Infrastructure in New York and Hut 8 is headquartered in Miami, so neither is a purely Canadian company any more.

This directory lists companies I could confirm from official or regulator sources. It is a reference list, not a recommendation to buy any stock.

Which Canadian Crypto Companies Are Publicly Traded?

Listed Companies With A Canadian Connection
CompanyTickerWhat I Confirmed
Keel Infrastructure (formerly Bitfarms)KEEL on Nasdaq and the TSXRedomiciled from Canada to Delaware on April 1, 2026, executive office in New York City, with sites in Pennsylvania, Washington State and Quebec. My Bitfarms stock explainer has the detail
Hut 8 Corp.Nasdaq and TSXHeadquartered in Miami, Florida; formed in October 2017 as a Canadian company; TSX since October 2019 and Nasdaq since July 2021; 19 sites across North America, per its own corporate page
Bitcoin WellTSXV: BTCW, OTCQB: BCNWFEdmonton company that listed on July 30, 2021 and operates 150+ Bitcoin ATMs in Canada, per its own page
Banxa HoldingsWas TSXV: BNXAMelbourne-based payments company. OSL Group completed a take-private, and the shares were expected to be delisted from the TSXV on January 5, 2026

Two lessons from the table. First, a Canadian origin does not mean a Canadian home: Hut 8 and Keel now run their head offices in the United States. Second, listed crypto stocks are a different bet from owning coins, and they carry company financing risk on top of the Bitcoin price. If you want exposure, my Bitcoin ETFs in Canada comparison is a simpler route.

What Has Changed For Canadian Crypto Companies In 2026?

Consolidation is the main story. Robinhood closed its WonderFi purchase on June 1, 2026, so Coinsquare and Bitbuy customers are being moved to the Robinhood app, even though Coinsquare's Canadian dealer remains regulated for now. Newton became a CIRO investment dealer in March, joining NDAX, Shakepay and Wealthsimple. Bitfarms rebranded and left Canada. Banxa left the TSX Venture Exchange. Companies that survive tend to be the ones that registered with Canadian regulators early, which is also why my ranking puts registered platforms above offshore ones.

How Do You Check Whether A Canadian Crypto Company Is Legitimate?

  1. Look it up on the CSA's authorized list. It shows crypto asset trading platforms, with decision dates, and a separate list shows banned platforms.
  2. Check CIRO's list of dealers it regulates. Investment dealer members are listed with their membership terms.
  3. Search the FINTRAC money services business registry. Companies that deal in virtual currency must register before operating in Canada, and an unregistered one is committing an offence.
  4. Read the platform's own terms. Some offshore platforms name Canada as a restricted location. BloFin and MEXC do.
  5. Be wary of company directories that list everything. A listing is not an endorsement or a licence.

I did not find a source I could verify for Canadian NFT companies or startups, so I leave them out rather than guess. If a company you know is missing, the gap is mine. For the platforms I rank, see my best crypto exchanges in Canada.

Which Canadian Companies Operate Outside Canada?

Several have grown abroad. Bull Bitcoin lists availability in Europe, Mexico, Costa Rica, Argentina and Colombia on its site, and its European entity, Leonod SARL, holds an AMF PSAN licence in France (E21-014). Ledn's Cayman entity is a registered Virtual Asset Service Provider with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and a Spanish Ledn entity says it is seeking a MiCA licence. Robinhood, a US firm, is now the owner of WonderFi's Canadian platforms. The pattern is that Canadian companies expand through foreign licences, and foreign companies enter Canada through CSA registration, as Kraken and Coinbase did.

What Should Investors Know About Listed Canadian Crypto Stocks?

A listed crypto company is a stock first. Its price depends on earnings, financing and the Bitcoin price, and it can fall while Bitcoin rises. Two of the names above, Keel and Hut 8, now describe themselves as data centre and infrastructure companies with Bitcoin mining as one part. Read their filings, check the currency of the line you buy and remember that a sale is a capital gain or loss in Canadian dollars, with half of a capital gain included in income under the CRA's current rules. This directory is not a list of recommendations.

Which Companies Serve Individuals And Which Serve Businesses?

Retail platforms such as NDAX, Newton, Shakepay and Wealthsimple Crypto serve individuals, and NDAX, Newton and Shakepay also accept business accounts, as my guide to business crypto accounts in Canada explains. Bitcoin Well markets a concierge service for institutional and high-net-worth clients. Lenders such as Ledn and Shakepay Credit serve borrowers, and fund managers serve investors who prefer a brokerage account. When you pick a company, start from the job to be done and then check its registration.

How Did I Build This Directory?

I included a company only when an official page, a regulator's list or a filing confirmed what I wrote. That is why some names you might expect are missing: where I found only aggregator profiles and not the company's own page, I left them out. The directory will change as companies list, merge and move, so treat it as a snapshot of October 2026 and use the verification steps above before you rely on any entry.

What Changed For Canadian Crypto Companies In October 2026?

  • The CSA issued an amended decision for Wealthsimple Investments Inc.
  • Banxa shares were expected to be delisted from the TSX Venture Exchange after the OSL take-private.
  • Newton joined CIRO as an investment dealer.
  • Bitfarms redomiciled to the United States and became Keel Infrastructure.
  • Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition.
