Our top pick for Canadians: CoinbaseSign Up

To buy Sui in Canada, sign up to a CSA-registered exchange that lists it, verify your ID, add Canadian dollars and buy. On my list, Coinbase (9.8), Kraken (9.2) and Newton (7.9) carry SUI and are registered with Canadian regulators. BloFin, BTCC, MEXC and Bitunix also list it, but they are offshore and not for Canadian residents to rely on.

  1. Coinbase, 9.8: first-time buyers who want a regulated, simple app
  2. BloFin, 9.6: offshore, terms restrict Canadians
  3. Kraken, 9.2: beginners who want to learn, then cheaper trading on Kraken Pro

I've been trading crypto in Canada since 2016 and have tested 61 exchanges to find the best ways for Canadians to buy SUI. With my YouTube channel, OCryptoCanada, and thousands of subscribers along for the ride, I know which platforms work best for us. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned trader, this guide should help you make a sharp, informed decision.

Coinbase and Crypto.com publish one global coin list, not a Canadian one. Check the coin in their Canadian app before you fund an account.

Listings are checked against each exchange's public asset feed as of October 2026. The Coinbase and Crypto.com feeds are global rather than Canada-filtered, so confirm that SUI shows up in your Canadian app before you deposit anything. Wealthsimple Crypto publishes no machine-readable coin list, so I do not claim it carries SUI. Bitbuy and Coinsquare are left out because new accounts are being folded into Robinhood.

Which Exchange Should You Use For SUI?

  • Coinbase (9.8 out of 10) CSA-registered First-time buyers who want a regulated, simple app. Interac e-Transfer and EFT are free to add cash. Simple buys cost up to 1.875% plus the spread, about $9.38 on $500.
  • BloFin (9.6 out of 10) Offshore Experienced traders after low fees on altcoins and futures. It has no CAD funding. Spot fees are 0.1% each way ($0.50 on $500 at the base tier). BloFin's Terms of Use name Canada as a Restricted Location.
  • Kraken (9.2 out of 10) CSA-registered Beginners who want to learn, then cheaper trading on Kraken Pro. Interac e-Transfer deposits are free. Kraken Pro charges 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker (the taker fee is $4.00 on $500), and Instant Buy is 1% ($5.00 on $500).
  • Newton (7.9 out of 10) CSA-registered Beginners who want a Canadian-regulated dealer with free CAD funding. Interac e-Transfer, wire and EFT are free. There is no trading fee; the cost is a spread that starts at 1.00% on BTC and differs by coin, so read the quote on the order screen.
  • NDAX (7.8 out of 10) CSA-registered Low flat fees and cheap cash-outs to your bank. Interac e-Transfer and wire are free. The flat fee is 0.20% ($1.00 on $500), plus a spread that NDAX does not publish.
  • BTCC (7.0 out of 10) Offshore Offshore futures traders. I could not verify CAD funding. Spot taker is 0.3% ($1.50 on $500) and maker 0.2% ($1.00) at the base tier. BTCC is not on the CSA list, holds a FINTRAC money services business registration, and says Ontario and Quebec residents are restricted.
  • MEXC (7.0 out of 10) Offshore Experienced traders hunting small-cap altcoins. No CAD funding verified. Maker is 0% and taker 0.05% ($0.25 on $500) at the base tier. MEXC's User Agreement names Canada as a prohibited jurisdiction.
  • Bitunix (not scored) Offshore Experienced traders after low-fee altcoin trading. It has no CAD funding. Spot maker is 0.08% ($0.40 on $500) and taker 0.10% ($0.50) at the base tier. Bitunix's Restricted Regions notice names Canada as a Prohibited Jurisdiction.
  • Crypto.com (not scored) CSA-registered A broad app with a crypto card. CAD funding methods are not something I could verify, so check inside your account. Crypto.com does not publish a Canada fee schedule that I could verify, so the in-app quote is the only reliable number.

Offshore Not registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators, and the terms of service of BloFin, BTCC, MEXC and Bitunix restrict some or all Canadian residents (BTCC lists Ontario and Quebec). No Canadian investor protection applies. They suit experienced traders who accept that risk, not first-time buyers.

Why Buy Sui?

Sui (SUI) isn't just another cryptocurrency. It's the core of a high-speed, scalable blockchain designed for next-gen apps and DeFi. Canadians might be drawn to its low-cost transactions and staking potential, whether you're in Vancouver or the GTA. But a heads-up: crypto investments are risky business, so always weigh the ups and downs before you leap in.

What Is Sui And How Does It Work?

Sui's documentation describes a blockchain platform for Web3 applications. Smart contracts are written in Move, and data is organised as objects that can be created, mutated and transferred.

Consensus is delegated proof of stake: validators lock SUI as collateral each epoch, users delegate to the validators they choose, and validators reward delegators in proportion to the SUI they delegate.

What Is Sui Used For?

SUI has four documented roles: taking part in proof of stake, paying gas, acting as a liquid asset for applications, and voting in governance. Gas covers computation and storage, and users get a partial rebate when they delete stored data.

What Are The Risks Of Buying Sui?

Delegating to a validator means picking one with a record you trust, and unstaking is not always instant. Check the current unbonding terms in your wallet before you stake.

Which Wallets Work With Sui?

Slush is a Sui-native wallet from Mysten Labs, with mobile apps, a web app and a browser extension, and it supports staking and swapping on Sui. It allows sign-in through Gmail or Twitch as well as a traditional recovery phrase.

How Much Does It Cost To Buy $500 Of Sui In Canada?

What A $500 SUI Buy Costs, Platform By Platform

BloFinSpot fees are 0.1% each way ($0.50 on $500 at the base tier).
KrakenKraken Pro charges 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker (the taker fee is $4.00 on $500), and Instant Buy is 1% ($5.00 on $500).
NewtonThere is no trading fee; the cost is a spread that starts at 1.00% on BTC and differs by coin, so read the quote on the order screen.
NDAXThe flat fee is 0.20% ($1.00 on $500), plus a spread that NDAX does not publish.
BTCCSpot taker is 0.3% ($1.50 on $500) and maker 0.2% ($1.00) at the base tier.

The spread is the gap between the price you see and the price you get, and it never appears as a line item. Compare the final quote on the order screen, not the headline fee. Offshore platforms show lower headline fees, but they cannot take Canadian dollars and their terms restrict Canadians.

How Do You Buy Sui In Canada Step By Step?

  1. Sign up to Coinbase. Use the Coinbase link and create an account. Coinbase is a CSA Restricted Dealer.
  2. Verify your identity. Upload a government-issued ID and a selfie. Verification can take up to 24 hours.
  3. Add Canadian dollars. Interac e-Transfer and EFT are free to add cash. Cards are quicker but usually cost more.
  4. Buy SUI. Search for SUI, confirm it appears in your Canadian app, then read the fee preview before you confirm.
  5. Move long-term holdings to your own wallet. Send a small test amount first.

How Do You Move Sui From An Exchange To A Wallet?

  1. Pick a wallet that supports SUI. Check the wallet vendor's own supported-asset page, not a forum post.
  2. Match the network. The same ticker can exist on more than one network, and the deposit address must be on the network you withdraw from. A mismatch can mean lost funds.
  3. Check for a memo or tag. Some networks need one when you deposit to an exchange. Wallets you control usually do not, but read the withdrawal screen.
  4. Copy the address from the wallet, never from a message. Paste it, then compare the first and last characters.
  5. Send a small test amount. Once it arrives, send the rest.
  6. Back up the seed phrase offline. Anyone who has it controls the coins, and nobody can reset it for you.

How Do You Store Sui?

For short-term trading, keeping SUI on Coinbase or Kraken is fine if the platform is registered and has decent security. For long-term holding, transfer it to a secure crypto wallet. Exchanges can get hacked, which is why holdings you do not plan to trade belong in your own wallet. My best wallets for Canadians guide has the picks. A hardware wallet such as Ledger is the safest route, and a software wallet works too, as long as you confirm it supports SUI and the right network before you send anything. Write the seed phrase down and keep it offline, never on your phone.

How Do You Sell Sui In Canada?

Ready to cash out? Move your SUI back to your exchange wallet first. On Coinbase, find SUI, hit Sell and convert to CAD, then withdraw to your bank. Then withdraw via e-Transfer or wire. NDAX charges CAD 1.50 for an Interac withdrawal. My guide on how to sell or cash out crypto in Canada has the full steps, and every swap can be a taxable event.

Do You Pay Tax When You Buy Sui In Canada?

Buying SUI with Canadian dollars is not itself a taxable event. Selling it, swapping it for another coin or spending it can be. The CRA says that, depending on your activities, you may realize business income (or loss) or a capital gain (or loss), and the two are reported differently. Record the date and CAD value of every buy, sale and swap. See my crypto taxation guide and how to report your crypto taxes.

What Changed For Buying Sui In Canada In October 2026?

  • Kraken republished its fee schedule, with Pro spot starting at 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker.
  • Coinbase launched regulated crypto derivatives for eligible Canadian investors. It is not open to ordinary retail accounts.
  • Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition, and Coinsquare customers are being moved in phases to the Robinhood app, so Coinsquare and Bitbuy are no longer places to open a new account.
