Part of my guide to how to buy crypto in Canada.

Why Buy Bonk (BONK)?

Bonk (BONK) isn’t just another cryptocurrency. It’s a Solana-based meme coin with a playful community vibe, fueling NFT projects and tipping culture. Canadians might be drawn to its fun energy, whether you’re in Vancouver or the Prairies.

I am not quoting a live BONK price here, since it would be out of date within hours. Check the order screen of your platform for the current CAD price. And a quick heads-up: crypto investments are risky, so weigh the ups and downs before jumping in.

What Is Bonk (BONK) And What Is It Used For?

BONK’s official site calls it a community-powered asset on the Solana network, distributed to the Solana community, with integrations across Solana apps and wallets such as Jupiter, Raydium and Phantom.

The site names Phantom, a Solana wallet, and Ledger hardware wallets as ways to hold it. Because BONK is a Solana token, you need a wallet that supports Solana tokens, and you need a small amount of SOL in that wallet to pay network fees when you move things around.

What Risks Come With Bonk (BONK)?

The BONK foundation’s own site carries the plain warning that crypto assets are highly volatile and capital is at risk, and it states it is not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial institution. Take that at face value. A coin with a playful brand and no cash flows behind it can move a long way in either direction.

Fake tokens that copy the BONK name and logo exist on Solana. Always copy the token address from the project’s official site and compare it with what your wallet shows before you trade or send.

Where Can You Buy Bonk (BONK) In Canada?

These are the platforms on my scorecard whose asset lists include BONK, in my fixed order. Wealthsimple Crypto, Bull Bitcoin, Bitcoin Well and Shakepay are left out because I could not confirm a BONK listing on any of them. Bitbuy and Coinsquare are left out because new accounts are being folded into Robinhood.

Coinbase and Crypto.com publish one global coin list, not a Canadian one. Check the coin in their Canadian app before you fund an account.

How Do The Fees Compare?

NDAX charges a flat 0.20%, the lowest single published fee among the registered platforms here, though its spread is not published; Kraken Pro starts at 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker and drops with volume, while Instant Buy costs 1% plus spread; Coinbase is the simplest app but charges up to 1.875% plus spread on a simple buy; Newton has no fee but builds its cost into a spread of up to 1.60% on assets outside BTC, ETH and USDC; Crypto.com’s Canadian fee schedule is not published, so I can’t compare it.

Fees change, so treat the published numbers above as a guide and read the fee preview on the order screen before you confirm.

Coinbase: Best Overall Crypto Exchange In Canada

9.8/10

How Do I Buy Bonk (BONK) In Canada Step By Step?

These steps use Coinbase, the first CSA-registered exchange in the table above. The same flow works on the other registered platforms that list BONK.

  1. Create a Coinbase Canada account. Sign up with your email, then verify with a government-issued ID and a selfie. Verification can take up to 24 hours, though it is often quicker.
  2. Add Canadian dollars. Bank EFT and Interac e-Transfer are free to add cash on Coinbase Canada. Cards and PayPal also work for buying, but they usually cost more.
  3. Search for BONK. Type BONK into the search bar. If it does not show up in the Canadian app, it is not available to your account there, whatever the global list says.
  4. Buy BONK. Read the fee preview before you confirm. Coinbase’s official Canada disclosure mentions up to 1.875% on a simple buy, depending on payment method, plus the spread.
  5. Move long-term BONK to your own wallet. Try a small test transfer first, and check the wallet supports the right network.

You can use a credit or debit card if you want to buy BONK as quickly as possible, but cards usually cost more than Interac e-Transfer, and Canadian banks sometimes block them.

Which Wallets Can Hold Bonk (BONK), And How Do I Move It There?

BONK’s official site mentions Phantom and Ledger. In Phantom you add the token to your Solana account and keep a little SOL for fees. If you use a Ledger device, check Ledger’s own supported assets page for current Solana token support before you transfer.

  1. Pick the network first. Open the withdrawal screen, choose BONK, and look at which networks it offers. Match the network to the one your wallet supports.
  2. Copy the receiving address from the wallet. Use the copy button and not retyping, and check the first and last few characters after you paste.
  3. Add a memo or tag if the withdrawal screen asks for one. Leaving it out is how coins go missing.
  4. Send a small test amount. Wait for it to arrive, then send the rest. Withdrawal fees apply each time, so the test costs a little.
  5. Record the transfer. Moving your own coins between your accounts is not a sale, but note the date, amount and fees for your tax records.

How Do I Store Bonk (BONK) Safely In Canada?

For short-term trading, keeping BONK on a registered exchange is fine if you have turned on two-factor authentication. But for long-term holding, transfer it to a secure crypto wallet. Exchanges can get hacked. My guide to the best wallets for Canadians covers the options.

Quick tip: a hardware wallet like Ledger or a software one like Trust Wallet keeps your coins in your own hands, but check that the wallet supports BONK on the right network before you send anything. Stash that seed phrase somewhere secure, and never on your phone.

How Do I Sell Bonk (BONK) In Canada?

Ready to cash out? Selling BONK is a snap. Move your BONK back to your exchange wallet if it is in a private one. On Coinbase, Kraken and Newton, hit sell and convert to CAD. Then withdraw by e-Transfer or wire. For the slickest cash-out tricks, watch my video for fees and timing tips.

Withdrawal costs differ by platform: Kraken charges CAD 10 for an Interac withdrawal; NDAX charges CAD 1.50 for Interac and CAD 4.99 for a bank EFT; Newton states zero withdrawal fees. My guide on how to sell or cash out crypto in Canada has the full steps.

Do I Pay Tax When I Buy Bonk (BONK) In Canada?

Buying BONK with Canadian dollars is not itself a taxable event. Selling it, swapping it for another coin or spending it can be. The CRA says that, depending on your activities, you may realize business income (or loss) or a capital gain (or loss), and the two are reported differently. Record the date and CAD value of every buy, sale and swap, including on offshore platforms. See my crypto taxation guide and how to report your crypto taxes.

What Changed For Buying Bonk (BONK) In Canada In October 2026?

  • Kraken republished its fee schedule, with Pro spot starting at 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker.
  • Coinbase launched regulated crypto derivatives for eligible Canadian investors. It is not open to ordinary retail spot accounts.
  • One of Bitunix’s FINTRAC registrations (Bitunix Innovation Limited) expired.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Buy Bonk (BONK) In Canada?

Yes, on several platforms. Coinbase, BloFin, Kraken, Newton, NDAX, MEXC, Bitunix and Crypto.com list BONK on their asset lists. Coinbase, Kraken, Newton, NDAX and Crypto.com are CSA-registered. BloFin, MEXC and Bitunix are offshore. Always confirm the coin in the Canadian app before you fund an account.

What Is The Best Place To Buy BONK In Canada?

Start with a CSA-registered exchange. From the registered platforms that list BONK, Coinbase ranks highest on my scorecard at 9.8 out of 10. Compare the fee preview on each before you confirm, because the published fee is only part of the cost.

How Do I Pay For BONK In Canada?

Interac e-Transfer or bank transfer is the cheapest route on the registered platforms that offer it, and several take it free of charge. Cards are quicker but usually cost more, and some Canadian banks block them.

Are The Offshore Exchanges That List BONK Safe For Canadians?

BloFin, MEXC and Bitunix are not registered with the CSA, and their terms restrict Canadian residents. No Canadian investor protection applies. I list them for completeness, but a registered exchange is the safer route.

What Is The Bonk (BONK) Price In CAD?

The price moves constantly, so any number printed here would be stale. Check the live CAD price on the exchange you plan to use, and compare it with the final quote on the order screen, which includes the platform’s fee or spread.

Is Bonk (BONK) A Good Investment For Canadians?

BONK’s meme coin buzz has potential, but crypto is volatile. Only risk what you’re okay losing. I don’t make price predictions, and nothing here is financial advice.

Do I Pay Tax When I Sell Or Swap BONK In Canada?

Possibly. Buying BONK with Canadian dollars is not taxable by itself, but selling, swapping or spending it can be. The CRA treats crypto as a commodity, and you may report business income or a capital gain depending on your activity. Keep a record of every transaction.
