The Canadian-listed companies that hold the most bitcoin on their own books are small caps on the TSX Venture Exchange, not the main TSX. Two I can document from their own releases are Neptune Digital Assets (TSXV: NDA), which reported holding 424 bitcoin and about 36,500 Solana on July 31, 2026, and DMG Blockchain Solutions (TSXV: DMGI), which mined 69 bitcoin in its quarter ended March 31, 2026 while moving toward AI data centres.
- Neptune Digital Assets: 424 BTC and about 36,500 SOL per its July 31, 2026 release
- DMG Blockchain Solutions: miner and data centre operator, 1.70 EH/s, revenue down 35% in its latest quarter
- Not covered: share prices, targets or buy calls
"Bitcoin treasury company" means a business that keeps bitcoin as a main reserve asset. In the US, Strategy made the idea famous. Canada has fewer examples and they are smaller. This page lists the ones I can support with a company release, tells you which exchange each trades on, and explains the risk of owning a company instead of the coin. It is not a recommendation to buy any stock.
Which Canadian Companies Hold Bitcoin On Their Balance Sheet?
| Company | Exchange | What The Release Says | Date Of Release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Neptune Digital Assets Corp. | TSXV: NDA, OTCQB: NPPTF | Holds 424 BTC and about 36,500 SOL that earn staking rewards; total assets $76.6M and shareholders' equity $59.0M at May 31, 2026; digital currency holdings $47.5M; equity investments, mainly SpaceX, $24.7M | July 31, 2026 |
| DMG Blockchain Solutions Inc. | TSXV: DMGI, OTCQB: DMGGF | Mined 69 BTC in the quarter ended March 31, 2026; revenue $7.3M, down 35% from $11.2M the prior quarter; net loss $3.5M; hashrate 1.70 EH/s at 21.4 J/TH; cash, short-term investments and digital assets $47.4M | May 26, 2026 |
| Bitcoin Well | TSX.V: BTCW | Runs one of Canada's larger bitcoin ATM fleets and an online portal; a business, not a holding company | Bitcoin Well website |
The dollar signs are as the companies print them. The releases I read do not state the currency on each line, so I do not assume one. Check the filing before you compare figures across companies.
What Is DMG Blockchain Solutions?
DMG is a Vancouver-based bitcoin miner and data centre company. In its second-quarter 2026 release, it described two strategic pillars, core data centre operations and "Core+" digital asset financial services, and said it is working to convert its Christina Lake facility into an AI data centre capable of at least 50 megawatts of critical IT load (DMG release, May 2026). Revenue fell 35% from the previous quarter, mostly from lower mining revenue. The release does not state a bitcoin treasury policy, so I do not call DMG a treasury company in the Strategy sense. I could not verify a current bitcoin holdings figure from a company source, so I show none.
What Is Neptune Digital Assets?
Neptune describes itself as a blockchain infrastructure and frontier technology company. Its third-quarter 2026 release, covering nine months ended May 31, 2026, shows digital currency holdings of $47.5 million, equity investments of $24.7 million (primarily SpaceX), revenue of $758 thousand (of which $238 thousand was bitcoin mining and $520 thousand staking) and a total loss for the period of $13.8 million, mostly a non-cash fair-value adjustment on digital currencies (Neptune release, July 31, 2026). It is the closest Canadian match to a bitcoin treasury company that I could document.
What Are The Risks Of Buying A Bitcoin Company Instead Of Bitcoin?
You take the coin's price risk plus company risk: operating losses, share dilution, and an exchange-listed small cap that can trade at a discount or premium to what it holds. Both companies above reported a loss in their latest results. A treasury company also cannot be moved to your own wallet, and it does not give you a registered-account route cheaper than an ETF. If your goal is plain bitcoin exposure, an ETF such as IBIT at a 0.33% MER is easier to compare, as I explain in my IBIT review and list of Canadian bitcoin ETFs.
Is DMGI Stock A Good Buy?
I do not give stock recommendations and I will not quote a live price. What the facts show is a company in transition from bitcoin mining to AI data centres, with falling quarterly revenue and a net loss in its latest release. Read the company's filings on SEDAR+ and decide your own position size. The same goes for Neptune.
Is There A MicroStrategy In Canada?
Strategy, the company formerly named MicroStrategy, is US-listed. I did not verify any Canadian-listed share class or Canadian equivalent, and I will not guess one. For Canadian-listed bitcoin exposure, the options I can document are the ETFs and funds on my list, plus the two small caps above. For news on public companies adding bitcoin, see my report on Canadian public company holdings.
What Are The Top Blockchain Companies In Canada?
That list depends on whether you mean market value, bitcoin held or business model, and I only list companies I can source. Beyond the three in the table, Canada also has CSA-registered exchanges like Coinbase Canada and NDAX, which are not listed shares. If you want to buy bitcoin itself, start with my beginner roadmap.
How Do You Read A Bitcoin Miner's Release?
Three numbers tell you most of the story, and DMG's release reports all of them. Hashrate, in exahashes per second (EH/s), is how much computing power the fleet brings to the network: DMG reported 1.70 EH/s. Efficiency, in joules per terahash (J/TH), is how much energy each unit of hashing uses, and lower is better: 21.4 J/TH. Bitcoin mined is the output: 69 BTC in the quarter ended March 31, 2026. Multiply 1.70 million TH/s by 21.4 J/TH and you get about 36 megawatts of power draw. That is my arithmetic, not a figure DMG states, but it explains why DMG talks about an AI data centre of at least 50 megawatts at Christina Lake: it is a similar scale of power, put to a different use.
What Is The Difference Between A Miner And A Treasury Company?
| Model | How It Makes Money | Main Risk | Example From This Page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Miner | Sells or holds the bitcoin it mines, minus power and equipment cost | Falling revenue when price or hashrate shifts; DMG revenue fell 35% in a quarter | DMG Blockchain Solutions |
| Treasury holder | Holds coins and other assets, earns staking or small mining income | Fair-value swings on the balance sheet; Neptune booked a $25.9M non-cash fair-value adjustment on digital currencies | Neptune Digital Assets |
| Service business | Charges fees or spreads on buying and selling bitcoin | Regulation and competition | Bitcoin Well |
| ETF or fund | Charges an annual fee to hold bitcoin for you | Fee drag and, for closed-end funds, premium or discount | IBIT, FBTC, QBTC |
Neptune's figures show how a treasury business differs from a miner. Over nine months it earned $520 thousand from staking and $238 thousand from mining, tiny next to a $47.5 million digital currency balance. Its results swing with the market value of the holdings, not with operations. That is a different risk from DMG's, where an operating business is shrinking its mining arm.
How Do You Check A Canadian Public Company's Bitcoin Claims?
- Find the filing, not the headline. Quarterly results and the management discussion are posted on SEDAR+ and on the company site. A press release is a summary.
- Check the date. A holdings figure is as of a date. Neptune's 424 BTC is as of its July 31, 2026 release date, not today.
- Check the currency. The releases I read print "$" without saying which. Confirm before comparing.
- Separate mined from purchased. A company can hold coins it mined, coins it bought, or both. The split matters for how it would behave in a downturn.
- Compare with an ETF. If the aim is bitcoin exposure, check whether the same money in an ETF at a 0.33% MER would do the job at lower risk.
For holding or buying the coin itself, my ranking of Canadian exchanges starts with Coinbase, Kraken and Wealthsimple Crypto.
What Changed For Canadian Bitcoin Companies In October 2026?
- Neptune reported 424 BTC and about 36,500 SOL after its nine-month results to May 31, 2026.
- DMG reported a 35% sequential drop in revenue and said it is converting Christina Lake to an AI data centre.
- Neptune's balance sheet date in that release: total assets $76.6 million and shareholders' equity $59.0 million.
