Bull Bitcoin sells only bitcoin and delivers it straight to your own wallet. MEXC lists more than 1,400 spot coins, and its User Agreement names Canada as a prohibited jurisdiction.
Bull Bitcoin Vs MEXC: Which Is Better For Canadians?
For most Canadians, Bull Bitcoin is the better choice (it wins on canadian status, my ranking, CAD funding). MEXC still comes out ahead on coins available. MEXC is best for experienced traders hunting small-cap altcoins.
MEXC is offshore: not registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators, and its terms restrict Canadian residents. No Canadian investor protection applies.

What Do Bull Bitcoin And MEXC Offer Beyond Buying And Selling?
Bull Bitcoin Only
Bill payment with bitcoin (Bylls): Sell bitcoin to pay Canadian bill invoices. The CAD bill-payment payout is free from CAD 25 and takes 3 to 4 business days. Biller count and Bylls history: Not verified.
BULL Wallet: Open-source wallet with on-chain, Liquid and Lightning, Payjoin support. Lightning and Liquid-to-Bitcoin swaps run through Boltz, which suspended its service in August 2026, so those two functions fail until further notice. On-chain and Liquid send and receive still work. Bull Bitcoin says no funds are at risk.
Recurring buys and Autobuy: Scheduled DCA buys from your balance (hourly over Lightning and Liquid was announced). Autobuy turns every incoming fiat deposit into a buy and pays out to a default address or xpub you save.
Bull Bitcoin Prime: Advisory and OTC desk for individuals trading over $25,000, businesses and institutions: unlimited volumes, same-day wires, phone support. Discounted rates above $100,000 in volume.
MEXC Only
Futures: Futures maker fee 0%. Not available to Canadians because Canada is a prohibited jurisdiction.
What Happens To Your Money If Bull Bitcoin Or MEXC Fails?
Bull Bitcoin: Bull Bitcoin holds no bitcoin for you, so a failure of the company cannot freeze your coins once they are paid out, but any CAD sitting in your account balance is uninsured and is not a bank, trust or payment account. There is no CSA registration, no CIRO membership and no CIPF, so there is no investor-protection fund behind that balance. A mistaken address, a scam or an unauthorised login is the user's loss under the terms. Lightning and Liquid features inside BULL Wallet depend on a third party, Boltz, which is suspended, so they can be down without any loss of funds.
MEXC:MEXC is not registered with the CSA, is not a CIRO member and has no FINTRAC MSB registration, so no Canadian regulator oversees it. It is not on the CSA banned list either, but it prohibits Canada in its own terms, so an account opened from Canada can be frozen with funds inside. CIPF never covers crypto. Insurance and proof of reserves were not verified. If the exchange fails or is hacked, a Canadian has no regulator to turn to.
How Are Bull Bitcoin And MEXC Treated For Tax In Canada?
Bull Bitcoin: Every sell, bill payment made with bitcoin and bitcoin-to-CAD conversion is a disposition for CRA purposes, and a buy sets your cost base. Export your history as CSV from My account, Transactions and load it into a tax tool such as Koinly; there is no CRA-ready report or slip.
MEXC: Spot sales and crypto-to-crypto trades are dispositions for CRA purposes. No tax export was verified, so rebuild records from trade history.
Selling, swapping or spending crypto is a disposition for the CRA on any platform. This is not tax advice: see my guide to crypto taxes in Canada.
Which Should You Choose, Bull Bitcoin Or MEXC?
Choose Bull Bitcoin If
You want bitcoin delivered straight to your own wallet, with Interac, bill pay or wire funding at no fee.
You want to pay Canadian bills or credit cards with bitcoin.
You trade above $25,000 and want an OTC desk or a corporate account.
You do not need altcoins, a card or regulator-backed protection on your cash.
Choose MEXC If
You want a huge altcoin list: MEXC bars Canada, so compare registered Canadian dealers instead.
Is Bull Bitcoin Or MEXC Better For Canadians In 2026?
Bull Bitcoin, because a Canadian can use it. It is #5 on my ranked list at 8.0. MEXC is #9 at 7.0 and offshore. Bull Bitcoin is Satoshi Portal Inc., started in Montreal in 2013 by Francis Pouliot, registered with FINTRAC (M16730720, to November 3, 2027). It is not on the CSA list, is not a CIRO member and has no CIPF cover. That is a lighter registration than a CSA dealer, and I treat it as one.
MEXC is lighter still. It is not on the CSA list or the banned list, I found no FINTRAC MSB match, and its User Agreement, updated May 29, 2025, names Canada as a prohibited jurisdiction.
Bitcoin Only Or 1,400 Coins?
These two are built for opposite shoppers. Bull Bitcoin sells bitcoin and nothing else, by policy: no altcoins, no staking, no leverage, no order book. You can receive it on-chain, over Lightning or on Liquid. MEXC lists 1,425 spot base assets across 1,813 pairs, plus futures that Canadians cannot use.
If bitcoin is what you want, the breadth of MEXC buys you nothing. If you want small caps, Bull Bitcoin is not the tool, and my advice is to use a registered dealer with the coins you need rather than an offshore one. Kraken lists about 490 tickers for Canadians, and NDAX around 76 mostly CAD-paired coins.
One honest caveat on Bull Bitcoin. Its BULL Wallet runs Lightning and Liquid-to-Bitcoin swaps through Boltz, which suspended its service in August 2026. Those two functions fail until further notice. On-chain and Liquid send and receive still work, and Bull Bitcoin says no funds are at risk.
Which Costs Less When You Actually Trade?
Bull Bitcoin charges no processing fee. The cost is the spread, and I derived it from the live quote on its rates page on October 3, 2026: about 2.0% each side of the mid price. It is not a published rate. On CAD 1,000 that is roughly CAD 20 to buy and another CAD 20 to sell. Prime, for volume above $100,000, gets discounted rates.
MEXC's spot fee is 0% maker and 0.05% taker, or 0.04% with the MX discount, which is CAD 0.50 on CAD 1,000 as a taker. That is a fraction of Bull Bitcoin's spread. But MEXC has no verified CAD funding and bars Canadians, so the low number sits behind a door that is closed.
Funding on Bull Bitcoin is free by Interac e-Transfer, CAD bill payment and wire. Canada Post cash or debit costs CAD 3.95, and e-Transfer payouts are free from CAD 10 to CAD 10,000.
Which Is Safer For Canadians?
Bull Bitcoin is non-custodial: coins go to your wallet and none are held. A company failure cannot freeze coins once they are paid out. The exposure is the CAD sitting in your account balance, which is not insured and not a bank or trust account, and the terms discourage leaving cash there longer than needed. A mistaken address is your loss.
MEXC is custodial. I could not verify insurance, proof of reserves or cold storage. If MEXC freezes an account opened from Canada, there is no regulator to ask. Self-custody delivery plus a modest registration beats a large custodial balance with none.
Who Should Choose Bull Bitcoin And Who Should Choose MEXC?
For someone holding bitcoin in Canada, the choice is not a tough one.
Choose Bull Bitcoin if bitcoin to your own wallet is the goal. You want free Interac, bill pay or wire funding, delivery on-chain, over Lightning or on Liquid, and the option to pay bills with bitcoin.
MEXC is not a platform I can point Canadians toward. Its terms bar Canada and no CAD funding is verified. If you want altcoins, look at a registered dealer's list.
Boltz suspended its swap services, which stopped BULL Wallet's Lightning and Liquid swaps. Bull Bitcoin says funds are not at risk.
MEXC updated its User Agreement, which names Canada as a prohibited jurisdiction.
