Bull Bitcoin and Beaver Bitcoin are two Canadian platforms that make it easy to buy and self-custody Bitcoin. Both avoid holding your funds, sending Bitcoin directly to your wallet, but Bull Bitcoin focuses on extra services like bill payments and cash purchases at Canada Post, while Beaver Bitcoin shines with its ultra-simple interface and transparent flat fee.

What Do Bull Bitcoin And Beaver Bitcoin Offer Beyond Buying And Selling?

Bull Bitcoin Only

  • Bill payment with bitcoin (Bylls): Sell bitcoin to pay Canadian bill invoices. The CAD bill-payment payout is free from CAD 25 and takes 3 to 4 business days. Biller count and Bylls history: Not verified.
  • BULL Wallet: Open-source wallet with on-chain, Liquid and Lightning, Payjoin support. Lightning and Liquid-to-Bitcoin swaps run through Boltz, which suspended its service in August 2026, so those two functions fail until further notice. On-chain and Liquid send and receive still work. Bull Bitcoin says no funds are at risk.
  • Recurring buys and Autobuy: Scheduled DCA buys from your balance (hourly over Lightning and Liquid was announced). Autobuy turns every incoming fiat deposit into a buy and pays out to a default address or xpub you save.
  • Bull Bitcoin Prime: Advisory and OTC desk for individuals trading over $25,000, businesses and institutions: unlimited volumes, same-day wires, phone support. Discounted rates above $100,000 in volume.

Beaver Bitcoin Only

  • Instant, Large and Recurring Buy: Instant Buy by e-Transfer up to CAD 20,000, Large Buy by bill payment or wire up to CAD 100,000, Recurring Buy by pre-authorized debit.
  • Beaver Plaid: Personal service for purchases above CAD 100,000 by bill payment or wire.
  • Sell Bitcoin: Sell BTC for CAD; terms are in the help centre.

What Happens To Your Money If Bull Bitcoin Or Beaver Bitcoin Fails?

Bull Bitcoin: Bull Bitcoin holds no bitcoin for you, so a failure of the company cannot freeze your coins once they are paid out, but any CAD sitting in your account balance is uninsured and is not a bank, trust or payment account. There is no CSA registration, no CIRO membership and no CIPF, so there is no investor-protection fund behind that balance. A mistaken address, a scam or an unauthorised login is the user's loss under the terms. Lightning and Liquid features inside BULL Wallet depend on a third party, Boltz, which is suspended, so they can be down without any loss of funds.

Beaver Bitcoin: Beaver is a FINTRAC-registered money services business, which covers anti-money-laundering reporting, not investor protection: it is not on the CSA list and CIPF does not apply. Because it holds no customer bitcoin, a hack or failure of Beaver would mostly hit money in transit or a pending order, not your stored coins. The residual risks are a failed or delayed purchase, an unpublished sell process, and the shorter operating history since 2022. Its FINTRAC number changed in 2026 after the old registration expired.

How Are Bull Bitcoin And Beaver Bitcoin Treated For Tax In Canada?

Bull Bitcoin: Every sell, bill payment made with bitcoin and bitcoin-to-CAD conversion is a disposition for CRA purposes, and a buy sets your cost base. Export your history as CSV from My account, Transactions and load it into a tax tool such as Koinly; there is no CRA-ready report or slip.

Beaver Bitcoin: Buying bitcoin with CAD is not a disposition. Selling for CAD, or spending bitcoin, is a disposition you report to the CRA. Beaver publishes no tax export that we could verify, so keep your own records.

Selling, swapping or spending crypto is a disposition for the CRA on any platform. This is not tax advice: see my guide to crypto taxes in Canada.

Which Should You Choose, Bull Bitcoin Or Beaver Bitcoin?

Choose Bull Bitcoin If

  • You want bitcoin delivered straight to your own wallet, with Interac, bill pay or wire funding at no fee.
  • You want to pay Canadian bills or credit cards with bitcoin.
  • You trade above $25,000 and want an OTC desk or a corporate account.
  • You do not need altcoins, a card or regulator-backed protection on your cash.

Choose Beaver Bitcoin If

  • You want bitcoin delivered straight to your own wallet with no account balance
  • You want a simple recurring buy by pre-authorized debit
  • You accept a flat 1.5% fee and a FINTRAC-only registration

I have been trading crypto in Canada since 2016 and have tested 61 exchanges on my YouTube channel, so this comparison sticks to what each platform publishes and what Canadian regulators list. Bull Bitcoin is a Bitcoin-only service that sends coins straight to your wallet. Beaver Bitcoin suits someone who wants a published 1.5% Bitcoin fee, delivery to their own wallet, and is comfortable with a FINTRAC-only dealer.

How Do Bull Bitcoin And Beaver Bitcoin Compare On Fees?

Bull Bitcoin Vs Beaver Bitcoin fee structures
Bull BitcoinBeaver Bitcoin
Trading CostNo processing fee; the cost is a spread, about 2.0% each side of mid-price on a live quote (derived, not a published rate)1.5% fee on Bitcoin purchases; Beaver pays the BTC network fee for delivery
CAD DepositInterac e-Transfer, bill payment and wire are free; Canada Post cash or debit is a flat CAD 3.95Interac e-Transfer, wire and bill payment (fees not published)
CAD WithdrawalCAD e-Transfer, bill payment and wire out are free (e-Transfer max CAD 10,000)Not a selling service in my files: buy-and-withdraw to your own wallet
Crypto WithdrawalNo fee on-chain (min 0.001 BTC), none on Lightning or LiquidBeaver covers the network fee on delivery

Bull Bitcoin charges no processing fee. The cost sits inside the price as a spread, and a live quote on October 1, 2026 put each side about 2.0% from the mid-price. That number is derived from the quote, not a published rate, so treat it as a snapshot. Prime users over CAD 100,000 in volume get discounted rates.

Beaver Bitcoin charges a 1.5% fee on Bitcoin purchases, and Beaver pays the Bitcoin network fee when it delivers your coins. That is a clear, single number, which is more than many Bitcoin-only services offer.

Verdict: Beaver's published 1.5% fee is lower than Bull Bitcoin's roughly 2.0% spread each side, so on price alone Beaver wins for a plain Bitcoin purchase, though Bull Bitcoin's spread is derived from a live quote and can move.

Which Is Better For Funding And Withdrawing CAD?

Deposits are where Bull Bitcoin is flexible: Interac e-Transfer is free with no minimum or maximum and lands in about an hour during business hours, bill payment is free up to CAD 100,000 (3 to 4 business days), and a wire is free and settles same or next day. Cash or debit at Canada Post costs a flat CAD 3.95 (CAD 100 minimum, CAD 7,500 maximum). Selling out to your bank by e-Transfer, bill payment or wire costs nothing, with e-Transfer capped at CAD 10,000.

You can fund with Interac e-Transfer (delivery in minutes), wire transfer (same day if you send in the morning) and bill payment. Beaver does not publish a fee for any of those methods in the pages I checked, and the dollar limits on its Instant Buy, Large Buy and Recurring Buy tiers are not published either.

Verdict: Bull Bitcoin publishes the more complete funding picture, with free Interac e-Transfer, bill payment and wire plus Canada Post cash, while Beaver lists methods but no fees or limits. Bull Bitcoin is also a selling route to your bank; Beaver is a buy-and-withdraw service.

Which Has More Coins?

Bull Bitcoin Vs Beaver Bitcoin coin support
Bull BitcoinBeaver Bitcoin
CoinsBitcoin only (on-chain, Lightning, Liquid)Bitcoin only
StakingNoNo

Bull Bitcoin sells Bitcoin and nothing else. You can take delivery on-chain, over Lightning or as Liquid BTC, and the site says plainly that it never touched altcoins.

Beaver Bitcoin is Bitcoin only and self-custody only: you give it a wallet address and it sends the coins there.

Verdict: Dead heat: both are Bitcoin only, both deliver to your own wallet.

Which Is Safer?

Bull Bitcoin Vs Beaver Bitcoin regulation and custody
Bull BitcoinBeaver Bitcoin
StatusFINTRAC MSBFINTRAC MSB
RegistrationFINTRAC-registered MSB (M16730720, registered, expires 2027-11-03); not on the CSA listFINTRAC MSB (registered 2026-07-13, expires 2028-11-30); not on the CSA list
CustodyNon-custodial: coins go straight to your own walletNon-custodial: you supply a wallet address
ProtectionNo CIRO or CIPF coverageNo CIRO or CIPF coverage

Bull Bitcoin is a non-custodial service run by Satoshi Portal Inc., an Alberta corporation. Every purchase is sent to your own wallet, so there is no exchange balance for a hacker to drain. The trade-off is regulatory: it is a FINTRAC-registered money services business, not on the CSA list of authorized crypto platforms and not on the banned list. Boltz also suspended its swap services around August 2026, which affected Lightning and Liquid swaps inside BULL Wallet, with funds said to be safe.

Beaver Bitcoin is operated by Dam Good Money Corp. Its current FINTRAC registration dates from July 13, 2026, after an older registration expired on November 11, 2025, so it is a newer registration than most on my list. It has no CSA registration or relief, though it is not on the CSA banned list either. Because it never holds your coins, custody risk is limited to the minutes between your payment and delivery.

Verdict: Both are FINTRAC-registered, non-custodial Bitcoin services outside the CSA list. Bull Bitcoin has held its FINTRAC registration since 2016 (current to 2027-11-03); Beaver's current one dates from July 2026 after an earlier lapse. That longer record gives Bull Bitcoin the edge.

Which App Is Easier To Use?

Bull Bitcoin has a clean web interface built for one job, and its Google Play listing shows 4.7 from 109 reviews while the Canadian App Store shows 4.97 from 29 ratings. Those are small samples, so read them as a good sign rather than proof.

Beaver Bitcoin is a web service rather than an app with a store rating I could verify, so I have no review score to quote for it.

Verdict: Bull Bitcoin has verifiable store ratings; Beaver has none I could find. That makes Bull Bitcoin easier to judge, not necessarily easier to use. Store ratings are a rough guide, not a usability test.
