The Tangem Ring is a hardware wallet you wear on your finger. It holds your keys in a CC EAL6+ certified secure element inside a zirconia ceramic body rated IP69K, and it signs transactions when you tap it to your phone over NFC. Tangem lists the Ring with two backup cards at USD 140 (struck through from USD 160), and the Tangem card sets cost less. The honest caveats: there is no screen, so you approve everything in the phone app, and Tangem's cards were hit by a laser attack from Ledger's Donjon lab in July 2026.
- Best for: people who want a wallet they never have to remember to carry
- Skip it if: you want a screen on the device itself (see Trezor Safe 7) or the lowest price (a card set is cheaper)
- Price: USD 140 for the Ring plus 2 cards on Tangem's ring page
- Promo: 10% off with my code OCRYPTOCANADA
- Where it sits: the Ring is not in my numbered top 7, but the Tangem wallet itself is my number 2
- PriceUSD 140 for Ring plus 2 cards (struck-through USD 160); Tangem card sets USD 59.90 to 69.90; free shipping over USD 89 on the ring page
- Secure ElementCC EAL6+ certified secure element; firmware cannot be updated by design
- ConnectionNFC
- Backupsmart backup: private key generated on the chip and copied to the ring and two cards over NFC; seed phrase option also available
Watch my video reviewMy review of the Tangem card covers the idea behind the brand in detail, so start with my Tangem wallet review if you have never used one. I keep my ETH, SOL and XRP on a Trezor Safe 7 and a Tangem card, and I tested Tangem for my ranking. This page is about the one thing that sets the Ring apart: it moves the same idea from a plastic card in your pocket to a ring on your finger.

What Is The Tangem Ring And Who Is It For?
It is a hardware wallet disguised as jewellery. Tangem's ring page describes a ceramic ring with an embedded secure element. You choose a ring size, the Ring pairs with two backup cards in the pack, and you tap your finger to the back of an NFC phone to sign.
The people it suits are the ones who forget things. A card ends up in a drawer, a ring is on your hand. The IP69K rating means it handles dust and high-pressure water jets, which matters for something you wear every day. And because the chip is passive, there is no battery that can go flat when you need to move money.
If you care about reading a transaction on a dedicated screen, this is not your device. Everything goes through your phone. That is the same trade-off I describe on the card, and the same reason people who want a screen end up at Trezor or Ledger instead.
How Secure Is The Tangem Ring?
The keys are generated and stored on a CC EAL6+ certified secure element, and Tangem says the firmware cannot be updated by design. That cuts both ways. Nobody can push a malicious update to the chip, but nobody can patch a flaw in it either.
That second point is no longer theoretical. In July 2026 Ledger's Donjon lab published a laser attack on Tangem cards that could set a card's access password to a value the attacker chose. It needs physical possession and expensive lab equipment, and Donjon says it cannot be patched because the cards have no update path. Tangem has not published a patch for that reason, and its own security page gives its position. The sources I have cover the cards. They do not say whether the Ring is affected, so read Tangem's page before you buy.
What I can say is how the design protects you in the normal case. Tangem uses NFC rather than Bluetooth or USB, so there is no wireless pairing to attack from across the room. Your wallet is protected by an access code, and the Tangem app has had independent audits. The passphrase feature is not stated on the pages I checked, so I will not claim it exists.
As with the cards, you can pick a seed phrase backup instead of the Ring-and-cards backup. I prefer writing the seed on paper and storing it offline. Never photograph it.
How Much Does The Tangem Ring Cost In Canada?
Tangem lists the Ring with two cards at USD 140, struck through from USD 160. The pricing page shows your local currency, so the CAD amount you see depends on the rate at checkout.
Tangem's international delivery page lists Canada, with standard delivery of 4 to 11 business days and USD 16 shipping, and shipping is free for orders over USD 100. Tangem says its prices exclude taxes and duties, and that local VAT or customs fees may be charged on delivery. Under CBSA rules a courier shipment from outside the US and Mexico is free of duty and tax only up to CAD 20, and above that duties and taxes apply. Budget for that on top of the price.
Tangem also showed a banner on October 3, 2026 offering an extra 10% off all products until October 25, with its own code. Separately, I have my own code: use my Tangem link for 10% off with my code OCRYPTOCANADA.
How Do You Set Up The Tangem Ring?
Setup happens in the free Tangem app on your phone. Follow Tangem's prompts, which run in roughly this order.
- Install the Tangem app. It is a free download for your NFC phone.
- Start a new wallet. Choose to create one, then tap the Ring to the phone so the chip can generate the private key.
- Back it up. With the smart backup, Tangem copies the key to the Ring and your two cards over NFC. Or choose the seed phrase and write it on paper.
- Set an access code. This is what protects the wallet on every tap.
- Store the backup cards apart. Keep them in a different place from where you live and wear the Ring.
- Send a small test. Confirm the address in the app before moving real money.
Does The Tangem Ring Work With Canadian Exchanges?
Yes, because it is a wallet address you own. Withdraw from your exchange to the address shown in the Tangem app.
The exchange's own prompts apply to amounts of CAD 1,000 or more under the travel rule, which has been in force since June 1, 2021. On Coinbase you tick "sending to myself" for your own wallet. NDAX asks who you are sending to and needs nothing extra if it is you. Kraken shows a travel rule pop-up for withdrawals of CAD 1,000 or more. Newton makes you save and verify the address first. Wealthsimple Crypto supports external wallets with a selfie check before the first one.
The CRA says moving crypto between wallets you own is not a taxable disposition. Keep records, though, and see my crypto taxation in Canada guide.
Which Coins Does The Tangem Ring Support?
Tangem says its app supports 14,100+ assets across 90+ networks, though the pages I checked do not break that figure out for the Ring alone. The Ring uses the Tangem app like the cards do. Tangem does not offer a Bitcoin-only firmware. Before you buy, open the app and check that your coin and network are on its list.

Is The Tangem Ring Worth It For Canadians?
If you already like the idea of a Tangem card and you are the type to leave things behind, the Ring is a neat upgrade for a modest premium. If you are new, start with the card set, which costs less, then decide if wearing a wallet appeals.
For larger balances I would split things up, as I do: a screen wallet such as the Trezor Safe 7 for the main stash and a Tangem for something lighter. Compare the options directly on my Tangem vs Trezor and Tangem vs Ledger pages, or see the full best crypto wallets in Canada ranking.
What Changed For The Tangem Ring Recently?
- Ledger Donjon published its laser attack on Tangem cards, which Tangem cannot patch because the cards have no firmware update path.
- Tangem reported an independent Cure53 audit of the Tangem Mobile Wallet.
Has Tangem Had Security Problems?
Here is every documented security issue I could confirm for Tangem, newest first, with what it meant for owners and what was done about it.
- : Ledger Donjon laser attack on Tangem cards. Ledger Donjon used a laser pulse on the card's secure element to set the card's access password to its own value, disclosed to Tangem on February 10 2026. Affects all cards in circulation; needs physical possession and about $250,000 of lab gear; Donjon says cards have no firmware update path so it cannot be patched. Tangem has not published a patch because the cards cannot be updated; see Tangem's own security page for its stance. (source)
- : Private key written to app logs. The mobile app mistakenly logged the private key when a wallet was activated with a seed phrase, and support could later see those logs. Only users who activated with a seed phrase and then emailed support from the app within 7 days; Tangem says under 0.1% of users, no funds lost. Fixed in app updates, affected logs deleted, affected users told to update and reset the wallet. (source)
Independent audits: Riscure (Dec 2, 2023): Independent firmware audit of the Tangem Wallet.; Cure53 (Mar 1, 2026): Independent audit of the Tangem Mobile Wallet, reported by Tangem..
