The Nano X is Ledger's small Bluetooth stick with a tiny monochrome screen at USD 99. The Flex is the touchscreen model at USD 249 or CA$369 in Canada. Both use the same Ledger Wallet app and list 500+ coins, so you are paying for the screen, the chip grade and the battery.

Ledger Nano X: Your coins are recorded on the blockchain, not stored inside the device. Recovery depends on the backup: recovery sheets; optional Ledger Recover. Which Is More Secure, Nano X Or Flex?
The Flex carries an ST33K1M5 secure element certified Common Criteria EAL6+, and the Nano X uses a CC EAL5+ element. The bigger difference is the screen. The Nano X has a 1.1 inch monochrome OLED at 128 x 64 with two buttons and a 'small screen, multi-step process' to read long addresses. The Flex shows more of a transaction at once on its 2.8 inch E Ink touchscreen, which makes it easier to verify what you are signing. A device that shows a full address is a security feature in practice.
Is Ledger Flex better than the Nano X? On security hygiene, yes, mainly through readability. The incident record is shared across the Ledger line: the 2020 shop database leak, the 2023 Connect Kit attack, the 2025 bootloader bulletin and the August 2026 signing-review bulletins (Donjon). None of those lists a seed taken from either device.
Which Is Easier To Use?
The Nano X is tiny: 72 x 18.6 x 11.7 mm and 34 g, with Bluetooth and a USB-A to USB-C cable, up to 5 hours of normal use and the Ledger Wallet app on desktop and mobile (Android 10+, iOS 15+ over Bluetooth). The Flex adds NFC, Bluetooth 5.2 and USB-C, runs about 10 hours and has a touchscreen you tap instead of a two-button scroll. For a quick check of a swap or a long Ethereum address, the Flex saves real time. For a stick that fits a keychain, the Nano X wins.
Which Supports More Coins?
Equal. Ledger lists 500+ coins directly in the Ledger Wallet app for both, with thousands more through third-party wallets across 50+ compatible apps. The coin list does not depend on which of the two you buy.
The Nano X costs USD 150 less. Ledger's duty treatment for Canada is not stated on the pages I read, so compare the final cart totals. Buying from a Canadian reseller avoids cross-border courier fees, and buying from Ledger directly avoids tampered-device risk.
How Do They Work With Canadian Exchanges?
The same steps apply to either device. On Coinbase answer the wallet-type question and tick 'Sending to myself'. On Kraken expect a Travel Rule pop-up from CAD 1,000. On Newton add the address to your Address Book and verify it by MFA before withdrawing. Moving crypto between your own wallets is not a CRA disposition. See my Newton review.
One practical test helps here. Imagine verifying a long Ethereum address or a token swap on each screen. On the Nano X you scroll through a few characters at a time with two buttons, and it is easy to get impatient and click through. On the Flex you see far more at once and tap to confirm. People who are rushed, tired or new tend to approve things they have not read, and a screen that makes reading painless quietly protects them. If you only ever hold Bitcoin and send a couple of times a year, that advantage shrinks, and the Nano X's lower price becomes the stronger argument.
Remember also that a hardware wallet protects the keys, not your judgment. Sign nothing you do not understand, and keep the recovery phrase offline.
Which Should You Choose?
Choose the Nano X if budget and portability matter and you are happy with a small screen. Be aware that Ledger has put the Nano Gen5 above it and sells the Nano X as a Nano Classic; I could not find a published support end date for the Nano X, so treat how long it will be supported as unknown and ask Ledger. Choose the Flex if you check addresses often or hold assets across many chains. Which Ledger device is best? The pricier option is the Ledger Stax, covered in Flex Vs Stax, and the full write-up is in my Ledger Flex review. For anything outside Ledger, I rank the Trezor Safe 7 first.
What Has Happened With Ledger Nano X And Ledger Flex?
Ledger published Security Bulletins 023 to 025 on signing-review bypasses (Donjon).
Ledger Security Bulletin 022 covered Monero app key recovery on a compromised host (Donjon).
Ledger Security Bulletin 021 covered an unvalidated firmware-update parameter that could brick a device; Ledger says funds were never at risk (Donjon).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Ledger Flex Better Than Nano X?
It has a bigger touchscreen, a higher-grade EAL6+ chip, NFC and a longer battery. The Nano X is cheaper and pocket-sized. Both use the same app and coin list.
How Long Will Ledger Nano X Be Supported?
I could not find a published end-of-support date. Ledger still sells it as a Nano Classic, with the Nano Gen5 now above it in the lineup. Ask Ledger before you rely on it for a decade.
Which Ledger Device Is Best?
For most buyers, the Flex. The Nano X suits a tight budget. The Stax is the premium model. Beyond Ledger, my number one is the Trezor Safe 7.

If you verify addresses and amounts often, the extra USD 150 over the Nano X buys a screen that makes that far easier, plus a stronger chip rating.
