The safest way to buy a Trezor in Canada is from Trezor's own site or from Amazon Canada, the only official reseller Trezor lists for Canada. Trezor says its checkout price excludes tax and customs fees, so expect to pay duties and taxes when the courier delivers. Do not buy from marketplace sellers or second-hand listings.
- Official reseller for Canada: Amazon.ca, per Trezor's resellers page
- Shipping: standard usually 2 to 7 business days, economy up to six weeks
- Duty: customs, GST or HST and any PST are your responsibility
I have reviewed the Trezor Safe 5 and the Model T for Canadians, and the buying question comes up every time. Hardware wallets are the one purchase where a cheap deal can cost you everything, so the source matters more than the price.
Where Can I Buy A Trezor In Canada?
Trezor's resellers page lists Amazon Canada (amazon.ca) as its only official reseller for Canada. Its FAQ says it recommends buying only from an authorized official reseller, because it cannot guarantee a device is genuine if you buy elsewhere. You can also order directly from trezor.io and have it shipped to Canada. A wallet bought from an unofficial listing can be tampered with, and a tampered device can leak your recovery seed.
| Source | Verified Detail | Watch For |
|---|---|---|
| Trezor's own website | Ships to Canada; the checkout price does not include tax or customs fees | Courier will bill duties and taxes on delivery |
| Amazon.ca | Listed by Trezor as its official reseller for Canada | Confirm the seller is Trezor or Amazon itself, not a third-party reseller |
| Third-party marketplaces and resellers | Not listed as official for Canada | A device Trezor cannot vouch for; I avoid them |
| Second-hand listings | Never official | Possible tampering; do not buy |
Why Does Buying From An Official Source Matter?
A hardware wallet generates and stores the keys that control your coins. If someone tampers with a device before you receive it, they can plant a recovery seed or modified firmware. That is why I also tell readers to ignore deals that look too good, such as a Safe 5 at a big discount from a seller with no history. The saving is a few dollars. The potential loss is your whole balance. For the same reason, I always generate the seed on the device myself and never use one that arrived written down.
Which Trezor Models Are There?
The Trezor site currently shows the Safe 7, Safe 5 and Safe 3, each in a Bitcoin-only version, plus Keep Metal backup products. For most Canadians the Safe 5 is the one to consider. Trezor lists it with an EAL 6+ secure element chip, a 1.54 inch color touchscreen with haptic feedback, PIN and passphrase protection, a USB-C connection and a microSD slot, and says the code is open source. On October 2, 2026 the product page showed a price of US$129. Prices vary by region and retailer, so check the live listing.
Trezor says its devices support "1000s of coins and tokens," including Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. If you only hold Bitcoin, the Bitcoin-only firmware versions strip out everything else. See my full Trezor Safe 5 review before you decide.
How Much Will A Trezor Cost In Canadian Dollars?
I will not print a Canadian dollar price, because the official site quotes in US dollars and retailers set their own CAD prices. Here is how to work out your real cost: take the checkout total, add the courier's duties and taxes, and compare that with the Amazon.ca listing, which is already priced in CAD. Do not forget shipping. Trezor's FAQ says standard international shipping usually takes 2 to 7 business days and economy shipping from two days to six weeks.
Do I Pay Duty On A Trezor Shipped To Canada?
Expect to. The Canada Border Services Agency says imports by mail or courier are reviewed, and duty, GST or HST, and PST where it applies can be charged. The CBSA exempts goods valued at CAD 20 or less, and a hardware wallet costs more than that. Trezor's own FAQ says the checkout price does not include tax or customs fees and that you pay them, and the amount varies by country and law. The CBSA page I read does not cover brokerage or handling fees, so ask the courier what they will charge before you accept delivery.
How Do I Set Up A Trezor Safely?
- Check that the packaging and the security seals are intact. If anything looks opened, do not use it and contact Trezor.
- Install the Trezor Suite app from trezor.io only.
- Create a new wallet on the device, and never use a recovery seed that came pre-written in the box.
- Write the recovery seed on the backup cards the box includes, and store them offline in two places.
- Send a small test amount from your exchange first, then the rest.
- Never type your seed into a computer, phone or website.
Need coins to put on it? Buy them on a CSA-registered exchange: Coinbase, Kraken, Wealthsimple Crypto, Newton or NDAX. See how to buy Bitcoin in Canada. Other hardware options are in my wallet ranking.
How Do I Fund The Wallet Cheaply?
Once the device is ready, you need coins in it. The cheapest route is to buy on a registered exchange and withdraw. Withdrawal costs differ more than most people expect. Kraken lists a Bitcoin withdrawal fee of 0.000015 BTC. NDAX lists 0.00007 BTC at standard speed and 0 BTC on its slow FLEX lane, which takes up to 12 hours. Shakepay covers the network fee at its normal speed of about 12 hours. Newton charges nothing on its Free lane, and Bull Bitcoin's on-chain payout has no fee above a 0.001 BTC minimum. Coinbase and Wealthsimple Crypto charge only the network fee and show an estimate before you send. Send a small test first, confirm it arrives, then send the rest.
What Else Should I Check Before I Order?
- That you are on trezor.io, spelled correctly, and not on a look-alike domain from an ad.
- That the seller on Amazon.ca is Trezor or Amazon, not a third party.
- That the box seals are intact when it arrives.
- That you have somewhere safe and fireproof to keep a paper backup.
- That you understand the device does not protect you from approving a bad transaction yourself.
What Changed For Trezor Buyers In Canada In October 2026?
- Trezor announced the Safe 7, a hardware wallet with a transparent secure element called TROPIC01 and a quantum-ready design, at US$249, per its Chainwire release.
- Bitcoin Depot, a major ATM operator, filed for Chapter 11, one more reason Canadians hold coins in a wallet they control, per its SEC 8-K.
- Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition and moved Coinsquare and Bitbuy customers toward its own app, so exchange-held coins are changing hands between platforms.
