Buy a Ledger straight from Ledger's own store or an authorized reseller, and check the final checkout total in Canadian dollars before you pay. Ledger's store prices in US dollars: the Ledger Flex is USD 249 and the Ledger Stax is USD 399. I paid C$599 for my Stax. Ledger's current range is the Nano Gen5, Flex, Stax and Nano Classics. Never buy from a marketplace seller or a used device, because a tampered wallet can steal everything you put in it.

  • Ledger Flex: USD 249 at shop.ledger.com, E Ink touchscreen, Bluetooth and NFC
  • Ledger Stax: USD 399, 3.7 inch curved screen
  • Where to buy: shop.ledger.com or an authorized reseller; Ledger says it is in 700+ retail locations
  • Not sure Ledger is right? See my wallet comparison

Most Canadians who search “Ledger Canada” are checking two things: where it is safe to buy, and what it really costs once shipping and taxes land. The first has a clean answer. The second is where I have to be honest about what I could not confirm from Ledger's pages.

Prices from Ledger's store, October 2, 2026, in USD. Canadian dollar totals depend on the exchange rate and taxes at checkout.

Part of my guide to how to buy crypto in Canada.

Where Is The Safest Place To Buy A Ledger In Canada?

Ledger's own store at shop.ledger.com, or a reseller that Ledger itself lists as authorized. Ledger says its devices are available in over 700 retail locations. The point is that a hardware wallet is a security product, and the supply chain is the attack. A seller on a marketplace could hand you a device that was opened, preloaded with a recovery phrase or modified. Never use a recovery phrase that comes with the device, and never buy a used one.

How Much Does A Ledger Cost In Canadian Dollars?

Ledger shows USD prices, and the C$ amount depends on the exchange rate on the day plus any taxes and shipping. I paid C$599 for my Stax. I could not confirm from Ledger's pages how Canadian duties, GST/HST or shipping are calculated, so look at the final total on the checkout page before you commit, and compare it with an authorized Canadian reseller if you can find one. Do not assume a lower sticker price in USD means a lower landed cost.

Do You Pay Duty On A Ledger Shipped To Canada?

Imported goods can attract GST/HST and sometimes duties when they cross the border, collected by the carrier or the Canada Border Services Agency. How that applies to a given Ledger order depends on whether the seller collects it at checkout. I could not verify Ledger's handling, so I will not guess a number. Read the checkout summary and keep the receipt.

Which Ledger Should You Choose?

Why Pick One

  • Flex: touchscreen at USD 249, Bluetooth and NFC, includes a Recovery Key
  • Stax: bigger curved screen at USD 399, Qi charging, Magnet Shell
  • Nano Gen5 and Classics: smaller and cheaper, on the shop

Watch Out For

  • Ledger prices in USD
  • I could not confirm Canadian duty handling
  • Hardware wallets only protect you if you store the recovery phrase safely

I compare Ledger against Trezor, Tangem, Coldcard and others in my best crypto wallets for Canadians. My Trezor Safe 5 review is the closest rival.

How Do You Move Bitcoin From An Exchange To Your Ledger?

  1. Set up the Ledger and write down the 24-word recovery phrase on paper. Never type it into a phone or computer.
  2. Open the Ledger Wallet app, choose the coin and tap Receive. Check that the address on the device screen matches the app.
  3. On your exchange, add that address, then send a small test amount first.
  4. Once it arrives, send the rest. Exchanges can ask whether the wallet is your own, under the travel rule.
  5. Keep the recovery phrase offline. Anyone who has it controls the coins.

You can send from Coinbase, Kraken or Wealthsimple Crypto. Bitbuy accounts are being moved to the Robinhood app, so Bitbuy is not a path I recommend for new users; Coinsquare is also being phased out. Withdrawal fees are network fees plus any platform charge, and Kraken lists a 0.000015 BTC fee for Bitcoin withdrawals.

What Does The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre Say About Buying A Hardware Wallet?

It is blunt: purchase any hardware wallet directly from the manufacturer. That line is in the CAFC's guidance on cryptocurrency investment fraud, alongside the advice to get your crypto from well-known and reputable exchanges. It also warns that cryptocurrencies operate independently of a central bank and are currently unregulated in Canada, so you do not have credit-card-style fraud protection if you are tricked. A second-hand or marketplace device is the classic way to get tricked: it can arrive pre-set with a recovery phrase someone else already knows.

What Is In The Box And What Should You Check When It Arrives?

Per the Ledger Flex listing, the box holds the device, a USB-C cable, a recovery sheet and a Ledger Recovery Key, and the Stax adds its Magnet Shell. Check that the box seal is intact, that the device asks you to set up from scratch, and that no card in the box tells you to use a pre-written phrase. Ledger's own setup generates the 24 words on the device. If anything arrives already initialized, stop and contact the seller.

  1. Inspect the packaging and the device before connecting it to anything.
  2. Set a PIN. The Flex resets after three wrong PINs, per its specification, so do not guess.
  3. Write the recovery phrase on the paper sheet and never photograph it or type it into a phone or computer.
  4. Install the Ledger Wallet app only from Ledger's official site or your phone's official store.
  5. Send a small amount first, and confirm the receive address on the device screen every time.

How Does Ledger Compare With Other Wallets Canadians Buy?

Ledger is one of several good options. I have reviewed Trezor, Tangem, Coldcard, Keystone, OneKey and others, and my best wallets page lays out which suits which user. Two points specific to Canadians. First, Ledger's store shows USD, so budget for the exchange rate, and second, you are paying for the device and not the coins, so keep your total cost in view: a device that costs more than the amount you plan to store may not be the right tool yet. A small balance can sit on a reputable exchange while you learn.

What Changed For Hardware Wallet Buyers In Canada In October 2026?

  • Ledger's store lists the Nano Gen5, Flex, Stax and Nano Classics, with the Flex at USD 249 and the Stax at USD 399.
  • Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition, so Bitbuy and Coinsquare users are moving to the Robinhood app and should withdraw to their own wallets deliberately.
  • Kraken's crypto withdrawal fee page, last updated this day, lists a 0.000015 BTC fee for Bitcoin withdrawals, the cost of sending coins to a wallet like a Ledger.
