To buy Dash (DASH) in Canada, open an account on a CSA-registered exchange that lists it, verify your ID, add Canadian dollars and place a buy order. Coinbase (9.8) and Kraken (9.2) carry DASH and are registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators.
BloFin, MEXC also list it but are offshore, so read the labels in the table first.

Part of my guide to how to buy crypto in Canada.
What Is Dash (DASH)?
Dash (DASH) isn’t just another cryptocurrency, it’s a privacy-focused coin built for fast, cheap payments, like digital cash with a sneaky edge. Canadians might be drawn to its speed and staking rewards, whether you’re in Vancouver or the Prairies. But a quick heads-up: crypto investments are risky, so always weigh the ups and downs before jumping in!
I am not quoting a live DASH price here, since it would be out of date within hours. Check the order screen of your platform for the current CAD price, and compare it with the final quote that includes the platform's fee or spread.
Where Can You Buy Dash (DASH) In Canada?
These are the platforms on my scorecard whose asset lists include DASH, in my fixed order. I checked each against the exchange's own listing data in October 2026. Platforms that do not appear here did not show DASH on their asset list, and I only recommend exchanges that do.
| Exchange | Canadian Status | Published Fee | CAD Funding | My Rank | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase | CSA-registered (Restricted Dealer) | Up to 1.875% on simple buys, plus spread | Free Interac e-Transfer and EFT | #1 | Buy DASH |
| BloFin | Offshore, terms prohibit Canada | 0.1% spot | No CAD funding | #2 | Buy DASH |
| Kraken | CSA-registered (Restricted Dealer) | Kraken Pro 0.40% maker / 0.80% taker; Instant Buy 1% | Free Interac e-Transfer deposits | #3 | Buy DASH |
| MEXC | Offshore, terms prohibit Canada | 0% maker / 0.05% taker | No CAD funding verified | #9 | Buy DASH |
Coinbase and Crypto.com publish one global coin list, not a Canadian one. Check the coin in their Canadian app before you fund an account.
Which Registered Exchanges Carry Dash (DASH)?
Coinbase For Dash (DASH)
9.8/10CSA-registered Coinbase is a CSA Restricted Dealer in all provinces and territories and ranks first on my scorecard at 9.8. Interac e-Transfer and bank EFT are free for adding cash. A simple buy carries a spread plus a Coinbase fee of up to 1.875% depending on payment method, which is about $9.38 on a $500 buy. Custodial Canadian dollar balances are not covered by CIPF or CDIC.
Kraken For Dash (DASH)
9.2/10CSA-registered Kraken is a CSA Restricted Dealer and ranks third at 9.2. Interac e-Transfer deposits are free. On Kraken Pro the entry tier is 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker, so a $500 taker buy costs $4.00 and a maker order costs $2.00. Instant Buy is 1%, or $5.00 plus spread. An Interac withdrawal costs CAD 10.
What About The Offshore Exchanges?
Offshore BloFin, MEXC list DASH but are not registered with the Canadian Securities Administrators, and their terms of service restrict Canadian residents. No Canadian investor protection applies. I could not verify Canadian dollar funding on any of them, so you would need to bring crypto from somewhere else. They suit experienced traders who accept that risk; beginners should stay on a registered platform.
How Do You Buy Dash (DASH) In Canada Step By Step?
These steps use Coinbase, the first CSA-registered exchange in the table.
- Sign up at Coinbase. Use the link in the table, then upload a government-issued ID and a selfie, and sometimes proof of address. Verification can take up to 24 hours.
- Deposit Canadian dollars. On Coinbase, Interac e-Transfer or bank EFT is free to add cash. A bank deposit usually avoids the extra cost of a card.
- Search for DASH. Open the trade or buy screen and look for DASH. Check the ticker carefully, because tokens with similar names exist.
- Place the order. Use a market order for speed or a limit order if you want to name your price. Read the fee preview before you confirm.
- Move long-term holdings to your own wallet. Try a small test transfer first. My best crypto wallets for Canadians list covers the options.
Cards are the quickest way to fund, but they usually cost more than a bank deposit, and Canadian banks sometimes block them.
What Is Dash (DASH) Used For?
Dash is a digital cash cryptocurrency with its own blockchain and a network of masternodes. According to the Dash documentation, masternodes enable InstantSend and power CoinJoin, InstantSend and the governance and treasury system. In practice, DASH is used for payments, including payments that need quick confirmation, and for optional transaction mixing.
InstantSend is the feature for sending funds quickly to any other Dash user. Since InstantSend based on Long Living Masternode Quorums (LLMQ-IS) arrived in Dash 0.14, the network itself attempts to generate an InstantSend lock for almost every transaction it processes.
How Does Dash (DASH) Work?
Dash adds a second layer of nodes, the masternodes, on top of ordinary miners. Those masternodes form quorums that do jobs such as locking transactions and voting on governance. Three features show how it works in practice:
- InstantSend: the network tries to lock almost every transaction as soon as it is processed, so a payment can be accepted without waiting for several block confirmations.
- ChainLocks: a feature that provides certainty when accepting payments. Used with InstantSend, the documentation says payments can be accepted immediately and without the risk of blockchain reorganization events.
- CoinJoin (formerly PrivateSend): a trustless, non-custodial method of running a sequence of transactions so that an observer has difficulty tracing transaction history. The docs describe it as consumer grade privacy.
What Are The Risks Of Holding Dash (DASH)?
- Privacy is partial: CoinJoin is optional and described as consumer grade, so do not assume a Dash transaction is untraceable.
- Regulatory attention: privacy-oriented features can lead exchanges to delist or restrict assets, so availability in Canada can change.
- Hardware wallet support changes: device support for Dash has shifted over time, so confirm current support with the device maker before you buy hardware for it.
- Market risk: like any cryptocurrency, DASH can fall in value, and the documentation makes no promise of returns.
Which Wallets Support Dash (DASH)?
The Dash documentation lists wallets across platforms. Dash Core is the desktop wallet and the one the docs describe as the most secure option, although it uses the most disk space because it verifies everything itself. On Android, the documentation lists Dash Wallet by Hash Engineering, with InstantSend available. There is also an official Dash Wallet for iOS that supports InstantSend, QR codes and recovery phrase backup. For hardware, the Dash documentation covers Ledger, which has supported Dash since 2016. Check the current hardware wallet page in the Dash documentation before you buy a device.
How Do You Move Dash (DASH) From An Exchange To A Wallet?
- Install a wallet from the Dash documentation's list and write down the recovery phrase offline.
- Open the receive screen and copy your Dash address.
- On the exchange, withdraw DASH to that address. Choose the Dash network if the exchange offers more than one option.
- Send a small test amount first.
- With InstantSend, a transfer between Dash wallets should show up quickly. Once it does, send the rest.
What Should You Check Before Buying Dash (DASH)?
- The ticker and network. Many tokens share names or tickers with copies, and the same coin can exist on more than one network. Confirm both before you pay.
- The listing itself. Open the asset page on the exchange and confirm that DASH is tradable against Canadian dollars, or that you will need to buy another coin first and swap.
- The all-in price. Compare the quote on the order screen with the exchange's fee schedule. A spread is part of the cost, even when the fee line says zero.
- Withdrawal rules. Some platforms set minimums, fees or hold periods on withdrawals to your own wallet, so read them before you deposit a large amount.
- Your records. Save the date, amount and CAD value of every purchase. You will need them at tax time.
How Do You Store Dash (DASH)?
For short-term trading, leaving DASH on a registered exchange is fine. For long-term holding, move it to a secure crypto wallet. Exchanges can get hacked, and I have seen it go south. A hardware wallet like Ledger, or a software wallet that supports DASH, keeps it safer. Check the wallet's asset list and network before you send anything, and stash that seed phrase somewhere secure (not your phone!).
How Do You Sell Dash (DASH) In Canada?
To sell, go to the exchange where you hold it. If your coins are in a wallet, send them back to the exchange first, then place a sell order. You can swap DASH for another cryptocurrency or sell it for Canadian dollars if the platform offers that, then withdraw to your bank account. Withdrawal fees differ by platform (Kraken charges CAD 10 for an Interac withdrawal). My guide on how to sell or cash out crypto in Canada has the full steps.
Is Dash (DASH) A Good Investment For Canadians?
DASH’s fast payments have potential, but crypto’s volatile, only risk what you’re okay losing. Nobody can tell you where the price goes next, and I do not make predictions. If you buy, size the position so a drop does not hurt, and remember that smaller tokens can be thin to trade, which widens the spread when you sell.
Do You Pay Tax When You Buy Dash (DASH) In Canada?
Buying DASH with Canadian dollars is not itself a taxable event. Selling it, swapping it for another coin or spending it can be. The CRA says that, depending on your activities, you may realize business income (or loss) or a capital gain (or loss), and the two are reported differently. Record the date and CAD value of every buy, sale and swap. See my crypto taxation guide and how to report your crypto taxes.
What Changed For Buying Dash (DASH) In Canada In October 2026?
- Kraken republished its fee schedule, with Pro spot starting at 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker.
- Coinbase launched regulated crypto derivatives for eligible Canadian investors. It is not open to ordinary retail accounts.
- The CSA issued an amended decision for Coinbase Canada Inc.
