None of the exchanges on my ranked list carries Ardor (ARDR). I checked the asset lists of Coinbase, BloFin, Kraken, Newton, NDAX, BTCC, MEXC, Bitunix, Crypto.com and the Bitcoin-only services, and ARDR is not on any of them. Wealthsimple Crypto publishes no public coin list, so I cannot confirm it either way.
Until a registered Canadian exchange lists it, the honest answer is to wait, or to use a decentralized exchange at your own risk. My guide on how to buy cryptocurrency in Canada covers the registered options for the coins that are available.
I have been trading crypto in Canada since 2016, and I have tested 61 exchanges on my YouTube channel, OCryptoCanada. For ARDR that testing narrows the field fast, because the answer depends entirely on which asset lists carry it. The table below is built from those asset lists, not from memory.
What Is Ardor (ARDR)?
Ardor (ARDR) is the fuel for the Ardor blockchain, a multi-chain platform designed for scalable, business-ready Blockchain-as-a-Service solutions. Canadians might be drawn to its enterprise utility and staking rewards, whether you are in Vancouver or out on the Prairies.
Altcoins like ARDR can be volatile, so check its market buzz before leaping in.
I am not quoting a live price here, since it would be out of date within hours. Check the order screen of your platform for the current CAD price. Crypto is volatile, so size up the ups and downs before you jump in.

I only list exchanges whose published asset lists contain the ticker. Check the project's own site for its current status before you buy anything, because small tokens are sometimes delisted or wound down.
How Do You Store Ardor (ARDR)?
Keeping your coins safe is something you must do if you do not want to risk them being stolen. An exchange holds your keys for you, so for anything you plan to keep, use a private crypto wallet. Choose one of the crypto wallets I reviewed, and check that it supports ARDR before you send anything, because not every wallet supports every coin or network. Then withdraw ARDR from the exchange you bought it on to your wallet. Send a small test amount first.
How Do You Sell Ardor (ARDR) In Canada?
To sell, go to the exchange where you bought it. If your coins are in a wallet, send them back to the exchange first, then click sell. You can swap ARDR for another cryptocurrency, or sell it for Canadian dollars if the exchange offers that pair, and then withdraw to your bank account. Withdrawal fees and limits differ by platform. My guide on how to sell or cash out crypto in Canada has the full steps.
Do You Pay Tax When You Buy Ardor (ARDR) In Canada?
Buying ARDR with Canadian dollars is not itself a taxable event. Selling it, swapping it for another coin or spending it can be. The CRA says that, depending on your activities, you may realize business income (or loss) or a capital gain (or loss), and the two are reported differently. Record the date and CAD value of every buy, sale and swap. See my crypto taxation guide and how to report your crypto taxes.
How Does Ardor (ARDR) Work?
Ardor describes itself as a multichain platform with a parent and child chain architecture. The parent chain, Ardor, provides security for the whole network, while child chains offer the customizable functionality. The consensus is 100% proof of stake, so it does not depend on mining hardware. Ignis is the child chain built into the ecosystem. Child chain transactions can be pruned once they are no longer needed, with their hashes kept on the parent chain, which is how the design tackles blockchain bloat. All of this is from the Jelurida Ardor page.
That is a different pitch from a typical single-chain altcoin. You are buying the security token of a platform built for businesses that want their own chain, with a hybrid permissioning option, rather than a coin for a consumer app.
How Do Forging And Leasing Work On Ardor?
Ardor calls staking forging. According to the official forging and leasing guide, forgers earn transaction fees for the blocks they solve, and no new Ardor coins are created in the process. To forge directly you need at least 1,000 Ardor held for at least 24 hours, with your node online, and you need the Full Ardor Client Wallet.
If you would rather not run a node, you can lease your forging power to another account or a forging pool. The guide says you keep control of the spending power of your coins during a lease, and that a lease cannot be changed until it expires, with a maximum of about 46 days. The risk it names is that a pool might fail to pass on the fees it earned, while there is no risk that the pool operator gets control of your funds. Staking income has tax consequences in Canada, covered in my staking and taxes guide.
What Are The Documented Risks Of Ardor (ARDR)?
- Pool risk. A forging pool can fail to pay out fees, even though it cannot take your coins.
- Lock-in during a lease. You cannot change a running lease until it ends.
- Passphrase risk. The official wallet asks for your passphrase to activate forging. The guide describes a cold wallet setup with offline signatures for added safety.
- Thin Canadian access. No CSA-registered exchange on my list carries ARDR, so you cannot buy it with Interac e-Transfer from a registered Canadian platform today.
Which Wallets Support Ardor (ARDR)?
The official route is the wallet software from Jelurida. Its downloads page offers a Windows installer, a universal zip package, a Unix installer and an Android full node. Downloads are signed with the Jelurida GPG key, and the Windows installer is signed by Jelurida Swiss SA. Check the signature before you run anything. The page states that the production software is open source under the Jelurida Public License, while the Android package carries a closed source licence.
How Do You Move ARDR From An Exchange To A Wallet?
Ardor uses its own network, not an Ethereum token standard, so the receiving address must be an Ardor address from the official wallet. Treat any exchange network option that does not say Ardor as the wrong one.
- Pick the wallet first. Open the wallet you plan to use and confirm that it lists ARDR and the network you will receive it on. A wallet that cannot see the token will not destroy it, but you may need to add a custom token or network before the balance shows.
- Match the network. The withdrawal screen on the exchange asks which network to use. It must be the same network your wallet address belongs to. Sending on the wrong network is the most common way people lose coins.
- Copy the address from the wallet. Use the copy button, not retyping, and compare the first and last characters after you paste it. If the official docs for the coin mention a memo or tag, add it exactly.
- Send a small test amount. Withdrawal fees are charged per transfer, so a test costs a little extra, but it is cheaper than a mistake.
- Wait for confirmations, then send the rest. Check the balance in the wallet itself, and look the transaction up on the network's block explorer if it is slow.
For a list of storage options I have reviewed, see my best crypto wallets for Canadians. Write your recovery phrase on paper, never photograph it, and never type it into a website.
What Changed For Buying Ardor (ARDR) In Canada In October 2026?
- Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition, and Coinsquare customers are being moved in phases to the Robinhood app, so Coinsquare and Bitbuy are not options for new accounts.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can You Buy Ardor (ARDR) In Canada?
Not on any exchange from my ranked list. None of them lists ARDR in its published asset list.
Where Should I Look For ARDR In Canada?
Check the project's official site for its current status and for the exchanges it names. Then confirm that any exchange is registered with the CSA before you deposit. My guide to buying cryptocurrency in Canada covers the registered options.
Can You Buy ARDR On A Decentralized Exchange?
Sometimes. Small tokens are often only on decentralized exchanges, which means using your own wallet, paying network fees and taking on contract risk with no customer support. Only do it with money you can afford to lose.
Is Buying ARDR A Good Investment?
I do not give investment advice. ARDR is a volatile asset, and prices can swing hard in either direction. Only risk what you are okay losing, and do your own research.
How Is ARDR Taxed In Canada?
The CRA treats crypto as a commodity. Depending on your activities you may report business income or a capital gain, and a swap or a sale can trigger it. Keep a record of the date and CAD value of every transaction.
Where Should I Store ARDR?
For anything you plan to keep, use a private wallet that supports ARDR and its network, and send a small test amount first. Exchanges hold your keys for you.
