To buy Aergo in Canada, sign up to a CSA-registered exchange that lists it, verify your ID, deposit Canadian dollars and place the order. On my list the registered options are Coinbase. I would start with Coinbase because it ranks first on my scorecard at 9.8 out of 10 and takes free Interac e-Transfer deposits.
Wealthsimple Crypto is not named here because it publishes no public coin list I could check, and Bull Bitcoin, Bitcoin Well and Shakepay do not carry AERGO.
I have been trading crypto in Canada since 2016, and I have tested 61 exchanges on my YouTube channel, OCryptoCanada. For AERGO that testing narrows the field fast, because the answer depends entirely on which asset lists carry it. The table below is built from those asset lists, not from memory.
Part of my guide to how to buy crypto in Canada.
What Is Aergo?
Aergo (AERGO) is the driving force behind the Aergo blockchain, a hybrid public-private network built for enterprise-grade apps with scalability in mind. Canadians might be hooked on its real-world business utility and staking perks, whether you are in Vancouver or out on the Prairies.
Altcoins like AERGO can be a bumpy ride, so scope out its market trends before jumping in.
I am not quoting a live price here, since it would be out of date within hours. Check the order screen of your platform for the current CAD price. Crypto is volatile, so size up the ups and downs before you jump in.

Where Can You Buy Aergo In Canada?
| Exchange | Canadian Status | Published Fee | CAD Funding | My Rank | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase | CSA-registered (Restricted Dealer) | Up to 1.875% on simple buys, plus spread | Free Interac e-Transfer and EFT | #1 | Buy AERGO |
Coinbase and Crypto.com publish one global coin list, not a Canadian one. Check the coin in their Canadian app before you fund an account.
These are the platforms on my scorecard whose asset lists include AERGO, in my fixed order. Bull Bitcoin, Bitcoin Well and Shakepay are left out because they do not offer AERGO. Wealthsimple Crypto is left out because it publishes no public coin list I could check. Bitbuy and Coinsquare are left out because new accounts are being folded into Robinhood.

Cons
- Simple buys carry a spread plus a Coinbase fee, and the official Canada disclosure mentions up to 1.875% depending on payment method

How Much Does It Cost To Buy $500 Of Aergo In Canada?
| Platform | Published Cost On $500 |
|---|---|
| Coinbase | Up to 1.875% Coinbase fee on a simple buy (varies by payment method), about $9.38, plus the spread |
These are the published fee rules applied to a $500 buy. The spread, the gap between the quoted price and the market price, is extra on any platform that does not state it, and it is wider on thinly traded coins. Offshore platforms show lower headline fees, but they cannot take Canadian dollars and Canada is restricted in their terms.
How Do You Buy Aergo In Canada Step By Step?
- Pick Coinbase. It is the first CSA-registered exchange in the table above that lists AERGO. Open it from the button in the table.
- Sign up and verify. Upload a government-issued ID and a selfie, and sometimes proof of address. Verification can take up to 24 hours.
- Deposit Canadian dollars. Interac e-Transfer is free to add cash on Coinbase and usually avoids the extra cost of a card.
- Buy AERGO. Search for AERGO in the app, use a market order for speed or a limit order if you want to name your price, and read the fee preview before you confirm.
- Send long-term holdings to your own wallet. Try a small test transfer first. My best crypto wallets for Canadians list covers the options.
You can use a credit or debit card if you want AERGO as quickly as possible, but cards usually cost more than Interac e-Transfer, and Canadian banks sometimes block them.
How Do You Store Aergo?
Keeping your coins safe is something you must do if you do not want to risk them being stolen. An exchange holds your keys for you, so for anything you plan to keep, use a private crypto wallet. Choose one of the crypto wallets I reviewed, and check that it supports AERGO before you send anything, because not every wallet supports every coin or network. Then withdraw AERGO from the exchange you bought it on to your wallet. Send a small test amount first.
How Do You Sell Aergo In Canada?
To sell, go to the exchange where you bought it. If your coins are in a wallet, send them back to the exchange first, then click sell. You can swap AERGO for another cryptocurrency, or sell it for Canadian dollars if the exchange offers that pair, and then withdraw to your bank account. Withdrawal fees and limits differ by platform. My guide on how to sell or cash out crypto in Canada has the full steps.
Do You Pay Tax When You Buy Aergo In Canada?
Buying AERGO with Canadian dollars is not itself a taxable event. Selling it, swapping it for another coin or spending it can be. The CRA says that, depending on your activities, you may realize business income (or loss) or a capital gain (or loss), and the two are reported differently. Record the date and CAD value of every buy, sale and swap. See my crypto taxation guide and how to report your crypto taxes.
Has Aergo (AERGO) Become House Party Protocol (HPP)?
Yes, the project has rebranded. The Aergo team's own publication describes House Party Protocol as the evolution of Aergo, integrating Aergo, Alpha Quark, Booost and W3DB, and the plan was to swap AERGO for HPP at 1:1. The announcement trail is on the Aergo publication and at hpp.io. Crypto.com's Exchange list that I checked on 2026-10-01 carries HPP, not AERGO. Coinbase's global product list on the same day still showed AERGO, so ask Coinbase directly how it is handling the swap before you buy.
This matters because the old Aergo chain was a hybrid public and private blockchain for enterprise apps, while HPP describes itself as an AI-focused layer 2. If you wanted AERGO for the original enterprise platform, the project has moved on.
How Does The HPP Network Work?
The official docs list the HPP mainnet with chain ID 190415, ETH as the gas currency, an RPC endpoint at mainnet.hpp.io, a block explorer at explorer.hpp.io and a route through the Arbitrum Bridge. The details are on the network information page. A separate governance proposal, AIP-22, proposed moving the stack from OP Stack to ARB Stack. The docs page does not publish token contract addresses, so get those only from the official HPP site, never from a search result or a message.
What Are The Documented Risks Of Aergo (AERGO)?
- Rebrand and swap. The ticker you are searching for may belong to a legacy token. Confirm what an exchange actually delivers when you buy.
- Changing technology. The team has proposed a change of underlying stack, which adds execution risk.
- Impersonation. Rebrands attract fake swap and claim sites.
- Altcoin volatility. Prices can swing hard in either direction. This is not investment advice.
Which Wallets Support Aergo (AERGO) And HPP?
The HPP network is EVM compatible, since it uses ETH for gas and lists a chain ID, and the docs link to Chainlist so that a wallet can add the network. I did not find an official list of supported wallets, so I am not naming one. Before the rebrand, the Aergo team published guides for its own native-to-ERC-20 swap that used Aergo Connect and MetaMask, which are now legacy instructions. Use only current instructions from hpp.io.
How Do You Move AERGO From An Exchange To A Wallet?
If you hold AERGO at an exchange, the exchange decides whether it is swapped for you or whether you must withdraw. Ask support and read its notices first. If you do withdraw, take the network and the token contract only from the official HPP pages.
- Pick the wallet first. Open the wallet you plan to use and confirm that it lists AERGO and the network you will receive it on. A wallet that cannot see the token will not destroy it, but you may need to add a custom token or network before the balance shows.
- Match the network. The withdrawal screen on the exchange asks which network to use. It must be the same network your wallet address belongs to. Sending on the wrong network is the most common way people lose coins.
- Copy the address from the wallet. Use the copy button, not retyping, and compare the first and last characters after you paste it. If the official docs for the coin mention a memo or tag, add it exactly.
- Send a small test amount. Withdrawal fees are charged per transfer, so a test costs a little extra, but it is cheaper than a mistake.
- Wait for confirmations, then send the rest. Check the balance in the wallet itself, and look the transaction up on the network's block explorer if it is slow.
For a list of storage options I have reviewed, see my best crypto wallets for Canadians. Write your recovery phrase on paper, never photograph it, and never type it into a website.
What Changed For Buying Aergo In Canada In October 2026?
- Robinhood closed its WonderFi acquisition, and Coinsquare customers are being moved in phases to the Robinhood app, so Coinsquare and Bitbuy are not options for new accounts.
- The CSA issued an amended decision for Coinbase Canada Inc.
